Just wondering if anyone has any opinions about Kitesurfing in Cairns
in late April/May?

Going there for sure, thinking about going to Yorkeys knob....

Cheers

Definately the later you leave it the better. The trades often start around the end of March but can have alot of rain with it. May onwards it tends to dry out a bit a winds can be a bit more reliable, although you would not have known it last year (crap year for us last year, in fact the last two years!!!!!)

looking at the wind rose for Cairns it has one of the worst averages for anywhere in Australia.Every time I have been there there is wind offshore and not much in Cairns.
looking at the wind rode for mackay it looks much better year round .Every time i have been there it is windy.
Now having said that newcastle where I live has a great wind rose for summer and the last 2 summers on the whole have had crap winds.
So there you go.hope i haven't upset anyone.
if you are going there take your gear and hopefully you'll get lucky with the wind and if you don't its a great place and lots to do anyway.
