Hey Darren,

ben here, French B's friend.

How's family life mate?

Just after some feedback on a 'new' (2nd hand) board for me.
I've only done 1.5 seasons. 0.5 on a directional and 1 on a naish TT Flash Austin 52. I'm doing ok and starting to get my jumping sussed and controlled.

I want a smaller, lighter, more flexy board this year.

I'm looking at a Slingshot '05 130 SX. Would this suit me performance wise? I'm 6'4", 82kgs. I fly a Gaastra Stealth 12m mostly, and also have a Naish 9.5m, both '03 kites.

I'd appreciate your advice mate.

Cheers Darren

Ben

G'Day Ben,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, I havent been on the forum of late..... too busy! Family Life rocks, thanks for asking

I'd be a liar if I said I knew how good or ordinary the Slingshot board is, so I can't give you any advice on this one. What I can tell you though, is that Airborne have received their new shipment of '06 demo boards which can only mean one thing...... that the 05 demo boards are now for sale at discounted rates.

Airborne will allow you to trial ride just about any board in their range as long as it is in demo stock, (which most are). I generally dont like recommending a particular board for someone, because two similar body people can ride the same board and one will love it and one will hate it, board choice is always an extremely personal thing. Ride a few first before spending your brass, that way you wont get duped.

Have a great day and I hope you find a board that is perfect for you. Sorry I couldn't help with the answer you wanted, but my advice on this matter is sound. Check it out.

best winds always,

Darren

Hey Darren,

No worries mate, wasn't expecting an instant reply.

Ok, cool, that's fair enough. Are Airborne in Scarborough? I might check out the demo option, or just see if I can give the board I'm buying a try before i grab it.

Hopefully we only have a 2-3 more weeks before we start getting 'afternoon sea breexes'. Bring it on!

Have a great summer mate, hope to ctach you and your newbie at some stage too.

Cheers Darren

Hey Ben,

No worries mate, Airborne is at 11 Howe Street, Osbourne Park, just off King Edward Rd which runs off Scarborough Beach Road.

Always try before you buy a board. Sometimes boards are made extra pretty to make up for lack of performance!!!

Have a great one and I'll see ya on the beach!

Best winds,

Cool, thought so, i've been in ther once.

Being associated with Airbourne, you probably shouldn't use the phrase 'Best Winds'. And steer clkear of the words 'Hell' and 'Fish' also.

Just a bit of brand management advice mate.

Good point mate. I'll definitely give them a try. Just need a controllable breeze to do it in now.
