Heres a break-in I witnessed(but didnt realise it)at Leighton. I was kiting last summer down leighton and was packing up my gear and chatting to a fellow kiter who was also packing up(we were the only people on the beach) when a very attractive female came down and stripped completely starkers and proceeded to have a bit of a swim right in front of us! Of course it took us a while to pack up our gear that day. Well after she had finished and headed back to the carpark we packed the rest of our stuff up and headed back to our cars thinking what a great country we live in! Until.... we found the other guys car had been broken into and the whole thing had been a decoy!!

You should have stolen her clothes while she was swimming, just in case. In the future anyone seeing attractive females swimming naked should possibly steal their clothes just in case, at least until you determine you haven't been thieved yourself, then give them back or hold them for ransom for your own kit.

greenpat, ransom her clothes, i like your thinking but for her to earn them back i think the ransom should surpass the mere return of all relevant kiting gear. however on a second point. it would be advisable to check on the female in question, if she is approaching a mass of one metric tonne, it would be advisable to throw her a barrel as soon as she started to remove her clothes. although she is unlikely to be a decoy in this situation, i would suspect you would run, not walk, back to your car.

I figure it must be possible to mount and power a camera from a street lamp in the beach car parks that have them. I assume they can be remotely monitored as the city mall ones are.
In regard to the "possibility of security cameras at Woodies" mentioned earlier perhaps WAKSA could donate $1,000 towards the cost of a camera/signage etc and maybe the council would be "embarassed" into doing something about it. It also shows how dead serious we are.
Once one council does the right thing we can nudge the others a little harder.
Thanks to Carl and all who are putting in their time on this subject.
cheers

I made a sugestion regarding a camera earlier on . General response was negative as all felt that the cameras would be stolen in a very short time, which is probably true, observing all the destructive energy in our population, and the effort people will go to, to get to your gear.
At Pinnaroo, some of us park right under the "no parking" sign in an hopeless attempt to avoid breakins, sad times
