Does anyone know if it is possible to Kitesurf in Spitfire Channel in QLD? What about the surf, is it tough for beginner there?

In search of beginner friendly wind and flat water... any ideas?

I fly over the channel regularly. There are really big and nasty looking sharks EVERYWHERE!

only asking as wind record indicates it is a great spot. so where are all the great places wiyh flat water and no big fishes around noosa and brisbane?

Caloundra Rivermouth gets pretty much exactly the same wind as spitfire.

The area that everyone is talking about kiting at is called 'Bulcock Beach or 'Happy Valley'.

Luke, you wont see any reference to those areas listed on seabreeze. The reading point taken into consideration is the spitfire channel marker, as per 'echostorm's' reply.

I would however suggest that it is not a learning area!!! There can be quite a massive current running, which does help in small wind, but when learning, can lead to lost equip...

I would suggest finding a less confined area, such as Brighton, Golden Beach, Cotton Tree or others, until such time as you are deemed competent.. by others, not yourself. That's not a sledge, just some advice from a local who has seen a fair few boards and kites lost to the 'Passage Monster'!!!!!!

Cores66 is dead right. I flew over there today and shot these photos of just how much water movement there is.

This is a vista of the whole thing (those little specs are what I took a close up of). This is from 500ft so imagine how hardcore it is a 0 to -15ft.
