Hey Taterchip,

I havn't flown one, but I've seen them being manufactured... and the quality is excellent! Heaps better than a lot of the other hyped up brands out there. Ive bought heaps of kites from the same factory (ie. from the factory Catupult use to make their kites in China) and have been very happy with the quality.

From what i have heard their aerodynamic performance is excellent.

I'm sure you wont be disappointed!

cheers.

They have only made boards before havent they and not many people here seemed to have them.

What advantage do they have over proven kites brands? Are they cheaper? Can they sell you one for less than $1000 new to justify the risk?

Are they out of the same factory in China as China kites?

Hey Bacon Dancing,

I cant think of any LEI kites that are not manufactured in China! A heap of brands are made in the same factory where I saw the Catuplut kites being made. To the best of my knowledge all LEI kites are made from only 4 chinese factories... you do the maths!

I dont know the owner of Catapult... but from what Ive heard on the grape vine (which may be wrong) he is a dude from south africa who has a excellent rep over there, who has recently moved to QLD. So they have already proven themselves... not just in Australia!

I am just wondering how another brand is going to make itself different enough to get some people willing to buy it.

Making boards and making kites is different. I would not be buying an untested new brand of kite that was the first from a manufacturer unless there was something about them that made it better or heaps cheaper for the same quality ( Like Best use to be). There are already more than enough brands of mid priced good kites. We have all those extras like Globriders, Ocean Rodeas, Takoon, FOnes, and heaps more. Good kites - just not room for everyone.

I reckon unless there is something that makes them different and better, it will be tough getting many people to take a chance on one. So Im wondering what that is.

hey Bacon dancing... you are so right in that there are so many good kites and there isn't enough room for everyone... the reason we are not seeing many of these brands on our Aussie beaches is just sales & marketing... not quality!

I have a Catapult kite board which is excellent - and for sale! see for sale section - so if kites as good no worries there.
