Yeah I noticed that one this afternoon - a little sad to see someone had that bad an experience...

What do u expect with 80% of kiters being beginners, 2m stretch of sand to set up and horrible patchy wind?

the problem why alot of people aren't friendly is some of us who have been kiting there for years are sick of telling people to walk with their kites over the water , only to seconds later watch it fall from the sky into the trees . Politely tell someone to stop teaching their mate at the southern end and go to the northern end only to get fobbed off . personally i like melville but out the back where the wind is better and away from the kooks

I disagree.... The kite is positioned high in the tree. If you consider the length of the lines, the guy was being lazy and walking along the shoreline with his kite. As the wind gets all vortexy along the road it fell into the tree. If he was trying to land he would have been 25m out in the knee deep water. Dusta is right, problem is the local guys arent doing the walk of shame, theyre riding upwind of the carnage.

that was my kite in the tree. I was dropping my sunnies off on my towel when a gust took my kite from 10oclock to 1oclock being that pine tree and sat it on top..Probably being so relaxed with kites after so many years doing it was my downfall..
I am spuing as I couldnt get it down in the wind yesterday so I went back this morning more prepared to get it down to find someone has already taken it down. Double Pain...brand new kite too..

Offering $100 reward for any info leading to the return of my kite.

Melville's council have taken the kite... Too early for Christmas decoration!
Besides joking, I hope you recover your kite mate!

Well that sucks.. When I saw the pic I thought it wouldn't be too hard to climb up there and get it. I hope you get it back.

Not only launch and landing spot, but you also gotta dodge all the hotshots who feel they need to do their tricks 3m fron the beach.
