Hi Caelah
How was warm old pom land?

I'll get the full report from Jon tomorrow, he returns from 3 weeks in the the muvvaland.
Col is good, and had begun to really adjust to and accept his new slant on life from this limited vision perspective, he sounds really good, considering.
I know he misses the water and the friends big time, but he is not the type to get beaten up by it, although I'm sure the black dog has been barking at his door a bit.
He has been seeing the eye specialist quite frequently and the prognosis for his right eye is that it is beggining to stabilise. Col continued to have micro tears in the right eye retina which required repeated surgery. From Cols description its something you would never wish on your worst enemy. One of the worst parts is the waiting around, they have to put some drops in his eyes to fully dilate his pupil, and he cannot leave the surgery until it has worn off.
The left eye is gone to Gowings as Cols puts it. There is some glimmer of hope that over time something might be able to be done with it so for now Col is putting up with the discomfort it causes him. The alternative is harsh, and involves removing the eyeball, there is no hope after that is done of course.
Fairly sure Col will come to the dinner if he feels that he is up to it, and have offered that he can stay at my place which is a short walk from the Sailing Club.
Col is being helped a lot by his son and daughter, and may even have found some driving work that he can do.Through his son's employer Col has had a few runs in the VW work van overnight to Canberra, so far so good. Col is unable to return to his old job, his vision is too limited, he has tried a couple of times but he cannot see enough detail to fulfill the job requirements.
Please support the dinner, book a ticket, it will be an awesome night, we want to fill the room. Ticket sales are going well, several people came in and paid at the shop over the weekend and don't forget you can pay online too (details on the poster at the start of this thread.)
Lots of fun activities planned for the night.
