There he is looking a bit like a galah!

Please support the evening, come along for an evening of fun and goodvibes all to help a mate in need.
Lots of prizes on offer, I think most of them are going to find new owners by way of some crazy auctioneering.
Craig Morton is the main organiser I beleive and a big thanks to you mate from Col.

Hi Guys,

I can't make the night out, but I'm in for a ticket anyways, It's for a good cause. If you cant afford the ticket, maybe someone can go in my place and then bid on some prizes. I'll leave that for you to sort out as you best see fit Graham.

Cheers and hope Col gets some good news from the docs.

It's going to be an awesome night...can't wait. It will be one giant party for one great fella. Everyone is chipping in here including some of Sydney's best DJ's who have donated their talent for the night., Just a word of advise, get a ticket ASAP as tickets are limited. There is only a certain number sold so there may or may not be any tickets available at the door. I know everyone i've talked to on the beach is super keen on this night so don't miss out!!!!
Nice support the whole way from WA Darren, much appreciated i'm sure.
See you all on the night, Rich

For sure Rich, this is going to be a great nights entertainment, as well as a opportunity to socialise and support a great cause.
Col has helped so many of us, personally amd collectively with sound, reasoned, and always level headed advice, so now lets help him a bit.

Good on you Darren for lending your support from so far away, well done mate!

Tickets available by making a netbank payment, to the SSKC account, electronic ticket then sent via email, too easy. Please send an email to Graham Snowdon after you make a netbank payment for a ticket, put your name on the deposit so we can track it easily.
If you don't have access to netbank, then contact Graham via email

This is one not to be missed, the auction items are going to be great!! All items must go, including kiting gear, booze, dinners, weekends away...etc..etc and the list goes on!
Col has a spirit for this sport, life and supportive words of wisdom that no one can top. Anyone that has met him, would have only positive words to say.
He is now in a time that we wouldn't wish on our worst enemy. Lets all get on this, buy a ticket, and come along, fill the wallet and prepare to bid yourself some amazing prizes, have a great feed, listen to some tunes, hang out with your fellow kiting mates and help the big guy out.
Looking forward to the night, and seeing everyone team together for the Big Galah
If you can not make it along, any messages, support or any acts of aussie mate(ism) will be greatly appreciated.
For any more information, feel free to PM me, Graham or Kitepower

Hi Caelah

How was warm old pom land?
I'll get the full report from Jon tomorrow, he returns from 3 weeks in the the muvvaland.

Col is good, and had begun to really adjust to and accept his new slant on life from this limited vision perspective, he sounds really good, considering.
I know he misses the water and the friends big time, but he is not the type to get beaten up by it, although I'm sure the black dog has been barking at his door a bit.

He has been seeing the eye specialist quite frequently and the prognosis for his right eye is that it is beggining to stabilise. Col continued to have micro tears in the right eye retina which required repeated surgery. From Cols description its something you would never wish on your worst enemy. One of the worst parts is the waiting around, they have to put some drops in his eyes to fully dilate his pupil, and he cannot leave the surgery until it has worn off.
The left eye is gone to Gowings as Cols puts it. There is some glimmer of hope that over time something might be able to be done with it so for now Col is putting up with the discomfort it causes him. The alternative is harsh, and involves removing the eyeball, there is no hope after that is done of course.

Fairly sure Col will come to the dinner if he feels that he is up to it, and have offered that he can stay at my place which is a short walk from the Sailing Club.

Col is being helped a lot by his son and daughter, and may even have found some driving work that he can do.Through his son's employer Col has had a few runs in the VW work van overnight to Canberra, so far so good. Col is unable to return to his old job, his vision is too limited, he has tried a couple of times but he cannot see enough detail to fulfill the job requirements.

Please support the dinner, book a ticket, it will be an awesome night, we want to fill the room. Ticket sales are going well, several people came in and paid at the shop over the weekend and don't forget you can pay online too (details on the poster at the start of this thread.)

Lots of fun activities planned for the night.

Hey,

Just got word that Vince Sorrenti will be entertaining on the night also. Between Marti, Vince and the Alcohol, the night is shaping up to be a ripper.

Wingenuity have also just donated a board for the auction.

Huge thanks to Marti, Vince, Kitepower, Wingenuity and every one else who is helping Big Col.

Special mention to Graeme Snowden (SSKC President) who has been working tirelessly to make this thing happen.

Getting Vince is a major coup, this is going to an awesome nights entertainment, but we need to make sure we fill the room, please guys in Sydney if you are not doing anything next friday week, then get some mates or your family along for a great nights entertainment, make up a table, have some laughs for Col and maybe score some great prizes.

I heard ECB have donated a board, so the list of stuff to score via a variety of methods including dutch auction is huge, literally thousands of $$$ worth of gear on offer.

Plus Marty Coffee and Vince Sorenti, and some of Sydneys top DJ's.

Please book a ticket asap we needto confirm catering numbers very soon.

ECB = East Coast Board Riders .

Must be the guys from Wind Surf n Snow.

I reckon all the crying whingers from the thread " Do you hate/dislike anything about kiting????" should be compelled to attend. They are badly in need of a reality check !

There is nothing to hate about kiting.........except when you can't go !

Let me be the second. What a fantastic night !!!!

Marty Coffey was bloody amazing and such a crack up. Vince Sorrenti had us all in stitches. Grant Galea was awesome with some real crowd favourites. The night was a ripper and we all had a ton of fun especially big Col.

Probably not apparent to any one who didn't see what's been going on behind the scenes is the phenomenal and tireless effort by Graeme and Cliff without whom this night couldn't have been possible. The amount of time, work and thought they have been putting into this is mind blowing and says a lot the kind of guys they are..... Massive thanks to you both for such a great night and what you've done for our mate Col... Cheers Fellas !!

SSKC you have outdone yourselves! Really fun night. Well done Graham Cliff Shane Craig and all the others who put in the hard work. The highlight for my kids and I was Marty's Act. Very funny. Its funny that after kiting with Marty for ages, I did not realise he was the chainsaw juggling freak i have seen on TV. I definately think you should incorporate the act into your kiting Marty. I for one would give way to you every time! Great to see the support for our mate Col.

I'll go fourth, amazing fun night well done guys!!!
Marty is a total crack up and very polished entertainer, Vince had me in stitches, some of his lines are so funny, I will never forget the true meaning of the word Shark!!
Grant has an incredible voice, we were so lucky to have 3 top acts like this plus the assistance of Jim on the mixer and sounds.
Graham, very impressive effort and so are the one armed push ups!!!!!
Big thanks to everyone else involved, Col is blown away, and I'm sure it will help him enormously, financially and otherwise.
Sponsors - the prizes and auction items were first class and the bidders very enthusiastic too, everything attained top prices!!
Ticket sellers - big pat on the back too, it was smiles all round.
What a great community we have in Sydney kitesurfing!
