Winter kiting over here in Melb & while the rest of me is toasty warm - my feet go numb & make board feel & control tricky.

When I say - go numb - I am talking 45 mins with my feet on the car heater vents to get feeling back. I wear ankle cut-off length booties.

What do other kiters do? I have heard of goretex socks - anyone try them?

It's the old addage. If your hands are cold, put on a hat.
If you are wearing booties and your feet are still cold then think about a hood or a helmet and a hood. A thicker wetty will also help.

Yeah - bit soggy...but

I think I'll cut the cr*p and go pay my local store a visit to see what they have.

No wonder the ol' feet have been complaining...now I'm ex-Perth & used to surf year round with only a spring suit for warmth...when I first came to Melb a while ago, I knew the water was colder - but faaarrrk.

Just checked out the actual bay water temp...10 degrees today. The ocean is 13 degrees here (go figure) - which is nothing like Sydneys ocean temp of 17 currently. Perths is probably around the same as Sydney.

So - before you all accuse me of being soft - remember I'm kiting in and out of icebergs...well frozen sewage outfill at Altona anyhow

Talk to Hoots about impact vests - they keep your feet warm.

Onya James!

I've heard you also wear that impact to bed for improved performance

Think I'll get some higher length booties that I can tuck my skirt into

Yeah lets me go harder longer stronger and a good look on the beach too when I tuck my impact vest into my speedos.
