OK, so if we stand back and think about some of the “less than constructive” communication that has happened on this forum during 2005, perhaps at this moment of a new year, we can all take a deep happy breath, and turn our minds again to thinking about some positive things to discuss?
Where is this whole kite circus going in 2006? What is the "BIG PICTURE"??
Anyone want to put up their hand to suggest some constructive discussion objectives for the forum for the next 12 months?
Let’s tick a few things off.
I can think of plenty – fitting an ever expanding kiting community into our waters and communities is one that springs to mind immediately.
Probably the most pressing issue for early 2006 is whether Laurie will print cool Seabreeze.com.au T-shirts. The forum lurkers are ready to buy online now.
It's also rumoured that WAKSA will offer a free cool T-shirt with every new membership.
Yep, 2006 is going to be a huge kite T-shirt year.
Yea, launching kite tee shirts made from forum contributors, and voted on by such could go in to production at Breast Kiteboarding in Kalgoorlie and sales and marketing must be outsourced to the East Coast.
Personally, I think the way forward for kites is to sharpen the wingtips into points for more speed, decrease the length of lines for more radical turns. In fact, why not get rid of the lines altogether, while we are at it remove the leading edge bladder and slip a carbon pole up there, attach that pole to a slightly more volumous board, and voila you could have a really exciting sport. I don't know why dont we call it hmmmm....... windsurfing
only jokin ... I'll bugger off to my own forum now.
technical discussion...great! We as the everyday riders have a pretty valuable perspective on how the gear is working and how we'd like to see it evolve.
Sorry rumple, the foil has been freed from the board now, and the increased freedom it gives us to move the foil through the windstream and generate power, makes us loathe to put it back.
But I agree, why not sharpen and rigidify the kite foil with light carbon struts like mini multi-piece sailboard masts, and have a mylar and carbon wing with a little bit of tube for floatation?
You only have to look at the bird wings to see the ultimate foil shapes for generating power from a moving airstream.
