With good care and fresh water - a set of lines should get you through 4 seasons
With terrible care... they might get you through 4 sessions.

We regularly see kites that are over 6 years old and in great nick, although now we're seeing 2009 model kites with valves that are peeling regularly. So say 4 years before you start needing regular servicing and maintenance.

My main size (11m) kites last me 2 seasons. By then the canopy cloth has developed many white creases. A sure sign of a kite used often. I never leave my kites sitting on the beach flapping in the sun. Very roughly 300 hundred hours on the water.

Next problem to develop is delaminating valves at 3 to 4 years. I never leave my kites sitting in a hot closed car in the sun.
