Hi Guys,

In the course racing we have done over here, the fastest boards around the course are Course racing boards (funny that eh? ). We use Airush Monaro's, North Race LTD's and Airush Sector 60.

The course boards are long >160cm, flat or very slight concave, zero rocker and wide in the tails ie same width as the widest part of the board or wider. All of these boards have minimum 15cm long, slightly raked, asymetrically profiled, dagger type fins with about 15 degrees cantilever so they point vertically down when ridden at speed with an edge.

All boards go fast downwind and across wind except surfboards as they have too much tail rocker and too much toe in on their fins. It is the upwind legs that wins the races and this is where the course racing boards have a distinct advantage over other boards. The course organiser can lay a course to favour any board. A course with a long upwind leg will favour course boards, a course with a short upwind and lots of tight reaching will be fast for everyone and a downwind slalom can also be won by anyone.

Length, rocker, and fins are king. It's still fun to race whatever you are on and a good twin tip rider on a board like the Airush Protoy Exile or North Phantom will make up lost ground in fast tacks without falling.

Enjoy the race and someone write up a report after the event, i'd love to hear how it goes.

Cheers,

KH

^^ This is because Richie can make anything go fast. You'd be hard pressed beating him if he was riding a pool pony!

lol I think I heard a challenge in there somewhere

Then again he could probably boost a pool pony higher than most all of us boost our full time gear too...
