This thread is not a reason to start abuse etc, we know these guys are doing wrong but what can you do?, so this thread is for a general laugh and definate cringe!!!

Was down at woodies yday and three blokes come up to us as we were packing up with v's and beer or something in each of their hands, the first had shoulder length brown hair and a missing front tooth, the second a prominant nose, blond short hair and had spent a lil to much time at the gym, the third short black hair, shorter but average bloke.

The entertainment was that they apperantly they had got given a "new" slingshot kite by a friend which they have been trying to fly.(Yeah my mate gave me a 2009 Nemi Best kite too for christmas!.... As if!!) Apperantly they tried to fly this kite with no harness, only 2 lines attached to the edges (kite apperantly is missing the lines attached to the kite itself) on a oval!!!, and best of all launching downwind on a 9m or larger kite in wind bigger than yday's (yday was prob 25ish, which is big for me on my lil 7)... Only to hang on for dear life to be dragged 50 plus meters, avoid tennis courts, power lines and the road. While my partner and I tried to convince them that the stings if not the kite can be very dangerous to innocents if not themselves, the guy without the tooth said proudly "oh yeah i had the strings wrapped around my neck at one stage".... We also tried to convince them to try it out in a place where no one is if they really have to, and not to launch down wind (that that is the most powerful spot of a kite).... only for them to proudly tell us that hopefully we dont see them on the news...

At the end of the day I don't think any of our warnings, and comments about possibly ruining kite spots for the kiting community by their recklessness sunk in. I am glad these guys are approching us with honest questions, which means they are taking the first step to responsibility, but I do hope they took our advise and researched the net and def get some lessons!!! (maybe a kite that doesn't sound so suicidal too). Anyway if you see em, get clear!!!

cheers jess

Give us a size, model & colour & tell us where they were.
Someone might recognise it as the one stolen from their car/house/shed last week.
