Hi everyone.

I have a Crossbow 9 arriving today and am very excited :)

However my partner now does'nt think it is fair that I have one and he doesn't What we want to know is does anyone have a 12 and a 16 and do you need both?? He wants both but I think the 12 would probably do him. He has a 16m contra at the moment.

My partner is about 75kg and is an intermediate kitesurfer. What is the range of each of the kites from your experience? I have also heard the 16 is a bit slow and a bit hard on the arms..

Thanks, ps I have looked through the other posts but haven't really found the info yet.

i am 97 and the 12 is heaps powerful. Perhaps your friend should get a nine if he rides mainly in the surf. The bar pressure you only notice till your arms buld a bit and you get use to flying off the ball and get use to the kite generaly. The 16m is sweet and still turns fast but i know i do not need it. When you get yours you will know what i mean.

Hey dun king how are ya? i just got back from a fairly good session at the sand banks over near wavebreak is. water temp here is 19-20 degrees
Man it was meant to blow 30-35kn this arvy.... i was hopin to get out & do some 'flying/dangling' on my 9m but it didn't happen [}:)]

Had to laugh.... both alex & paul's 12m bow's got wear holes inthe canopy after they had the kites out of the bags & gear laying in a boat rubbing up and down on each other.......nasty

Snowman you'll probably find you get the power of a 14-15m out of a 12m bow..... you may as well get both then you'll have all 3.....how can you go wrong?

Hey snowman, i'm round the 92kg mark, i have a 12 and it suits just fine in just about everything i'm happy to kite in. the low end on my 12 is about the same as the low end on my regular 15.

Wouldnt mind a 9 though........just in case.

Hey relli,
Do you believe that a 12m X-box is a one kite quiver for you personally?

Answer truthfully.

I dunno whether its a one kite quiver but it covers the range that my 10 and 15 did, same price too.

I think there will always be conditions that dictate that you go smaller. Would like a 9 but thats just driven by greed.

Not too interested in a 16 or light wind kiting, sub 12kn aint worth it i dont think.

hey psylor
wind now dropped to 13 weather
bugger
just got hold of a tasty 9 fuel and was looking forward to getting my ass spanked all over the harbour here.
maybe soon
just watching as the shine starts to wear off the nova , xbows
quite funny really a'la hell fish
sounds a bit nasty tho , kites already wearing poorly after a few
goes. couple that with all that nasty bar pressure.
i just got two hard wearing as new bullet proof boosting kites
for the price of a bow
i'm quite happy about that

Hey Psylor

Saw you guys in the distance up near wavebreak. Dario and I had KFC to ourselves from 1pm to 4.30pm. Just perfect. The northerly was channeling down and the water was very smooth.

Some of the boys went to Shearwater but had a terrible time.

Had the new Crossbow 16 out for the first time. Its an absolute pisser. Upwind machine that ate up the gusts.

Bar pressure is an issue but I think I have it licked with a few mods I have been building. Anyhow Cabrihna have a fix coming in a few weeks.

Richo. Wait till you try the 16 - Wow

Yeah Fitzy i was on my 11, had a good kite. My old man made some progress, the new kite & board really suit him. He was tryin jumps & stayin upwind, but didn't quite make it back to shore from the sandbank. He got hit by a squall which sent him ploughing through the water. i think he hasitated and pulled too hard with his back hand thinking the kite was about to hit the water. He launched out of the water about as high as one of those channel marker poles and slammed on his back getting winded and a bit shell shocked. Not the best way to end a session

Ken Ken Ken thats the general rule of thumb that i use when its time to go home. You gota cop that floggin so u know u pushed the limit. Just th other day when my unhooked deadman was done over a sandbar i realised that timing 'is everything'.

God psylor if your dad gets too good he'l have to come to Mambo with us !!! - but at least we shall have someone to drive from the airport to Merr thats not pi**ed

Bit hard to xplain- but il try--
Unhook , jump when nearly at the peak of ur jump lift legs up , grab board and place bar underneath knees(as if you were hanging off monkey bars as a kid)this will enable u to extend ur arms with board in hand and stretch back,
Then reach back up swing legs back out replace board and may land one handed (hopefully 2 handed)

U dont get a lot of landings unless u get some good height.
Keep practising (there are sequence shot of a Jap rider (tnuc mus) in kiteforum you cand see the basics there..

Trying to picture u Paulio doing that move.. soo funny. Thats made me feel better over such a piss poor wkend. Didnt end up going. Wind about 8 knts. Had a great day on fri down me sthern end.. kited till 7pm....soo dark with just me and chappy on our 9m's. Every single roll turned into a double from the gusts/tide. Cool day... except for the guy that did the old switcheroony with my slingy pump (yes the one with scott on it) that works Thanks again for the laugh.

Hey Psylor

Hope your Dad is OK. Glad to hear he enjoyed the new Rapture and board. Perfect rig and board for him. He just needs to learn to use the depower. He probably panicked and pulled in on the bar instead of pushing it away from him. I have ridden a Rapture 12 in 33 Kts no problems. 100% depower.

Professor. If you are up near KFC or Shearwater on Tues I will be out on the Crossbow 16 trying out the Bar Mods.

I don't know whether Paulio's description of the Deadman was strictly accurate. The real Deadman was the rider of a jetski near Wave Break Island who unfortunately happened to be just where Paulio wanted to land at the end of a huge jump. He would certainly be a deadman seeing 95 Kgs of screaming Kite Fiend hurtling down from the sky towards him. Now that's a Deadman.
