Does anyone have the actual dimensions of the new style swivel on the Cult 09? I need to make one. I have the 08 model. With the 08 setup I got injured. It took me out of the season for several months. I tried to get it from Naish Hawaii and they have been “out of stock” since it came out. Anyone flying the 08 model I am warning you now there are a few things in the manual that are dangerously wrong or easily misinterpreted. 3 Examples: The Cult is not designed to fly 2:1 setup. You have to add line extensions on your steering lines. Second the air pressure is wrong and the kite will not fly correctly! The naish store Hawaii said it has to be blown hard, to the point that the wing tip does not crease. This pressure can void your warranty. The other is the leash needs to have a 5 to 6 inch extension on it including the one that came with the kite. You do not want the leash release right next to the chicken loop release!!! The leash length is what took me out of last season. 08 setup occasionally pulls the safety leash line while flying the kite! I believe this is why they have the new 09 design. Naish Hawaii never return any of my emails and when they opened their store (Naish Hawaii did not have a phone number prior) they told me I need to be careful. Sorry for the rant. Any way anyone have dimensions or a spare swivel?

Wow man sounds like you have had a bad run and sorry to hear about your injury, but there are a few thing's that I think you may be missing. It is my beleif that for it to fly 2:1 it would need pulley's on the bar so forget that! And yes it is in the manual. Any inflatable kite will need to be pumped up hard, not soft hard, forgret the guage just pump it up hard and bugger the warranty. I have never had a problem with the safety leash being to short. I have mine attached to the ring near my hip on the harness, can be a pain when looping but i attach it to the de-power line suicide style until i have finished then re-connect.Mate I honestly think that the problems that you have have had could have been sorted out just by talking to some fellow kiter's.Anyway keep your chin up mate and I hope your injury heals quickly!

Schwartzer,
your post contains some iffy claims, as per the PM i sent please call me if you wish to discuss it further.
the only thing I will add here is that Naish Australia DO have the 2009 swivel and pulley available that can be sourced through your closest Naish dealer, however I have not been contacted by anyone seeking this part for you which would suggest you have not asked any retailer in Aus.
The contact path you state seems to suggest you have tried to contact Naish Hawaii, is this because you are not in Australia?

Sorry for not putting enough detail in the first post. I originally tried to put this post on another thread because some measurements had already been taken. Since that post was old I had to start a new thread. I am not from Australia and never tried to contact the Naish dealer from Australia who might I add is quick to respond, helpful, and honest.
My comments earlier where all based around the Naish in Hawaii only.
HOPELESS my bar did come with pulleys on the bar. Maybe they gave me the wrong bar. If I hook the leash to the bar right next to the chickenloop with out that 3 inch extension that came with the bar, the leash would pull the line all the time turning the kite. Thanks for the quick replies.

Schwartzer, you attach the leash line to the spreader bar. Naish bars come with a little red velcro loop that wraps around your spreader bar and creates an attachment point for your leash.

I have been riding a Boxer SLE and a Helix on this setup and have never had the flagging leash accidentally release!

Its nearly impossible to attach the leash to the attachment points on the hips of your harness, if you do manage to do it, your kite will fly unbalanced as one front line will be constantly trying to flag the kite and potentially put it into a loop, which I suspect is what happened to you...

I saw a guy with a Cult at Brighton beach (Melbourne) on Saturday trying to fly his kite with the leash at his hip, and its totally wrong the kite was flagging and he needed his mate to release his leash off the back of his harness. I ran over to him and fixed it for him.

The reason Naish have it this way is because the flagging leash starts up above the bar, attached to one of the front lines, there is potential for it to get wrapped around the outside of the bar, so it's kept with a little tension on it, running parallel to the centre line. Kites that run a flag to fifth line setup do not have this issue, so the leash is usually attached to one of the leash points on the harness.

My current setup has that velcro loop and a 5 inch extension, this offsets the two releases. With just the velcro loop I have seen it pull the front line on occasion.
My problem was created because the chicken loop release was side by side the leash release. When a emergency happens on the beach with people walking downwind of the kite you only want to pull the chicken loop release. It takes longer than a half a second to separate the two and pull the correct one!

Hook to the trim line! I got flogged by my Boxer SLE when I hooked my leash to a front line (where they say to) the leash wrapped around the outside lines making the kite loop. I supermanned about 9 times, couldn't release the chicken loop because the leash had wrapped so tight it held it down. Luckily (learnt from flying C kites) I let the kite load up on me then as I got pulled forward I managed to grab a front line and kill the power. F@cking stupid way to suggest hooking up a safety, perhaps thats why they ended up supplying that line that went through the bar. Anyway hope you get better soon and just hook the safety to the trim line.

This is just a quick question to metalmongrel..
I recently got some new bars from Naish. I fly an 08 Helix and an 07 X1.. Both are SLE kites..
I have the 2:1 bar setup right now with the leash going to one of the front lines of the kite like I've had for years.. My old bars were setup with a system so I could spin the bars and not get the leash wrapped around everything.. The Naish bar doesn't have this type of setup.. While kiting with the new bar, the leash kept getting wrapped up around the lines, which seems quite dangerous to me..

I'm considering disconnecting the leash from the front line and connecting it down on the little connector on the chicken loop and then to my harness from there (suicide connection??)...
I just want to make sure that's where you are talking about when you say to connect it to the trim line..

Any advice would be appreciated..
Thanks
