Travelling to Darwin, Jan to Jun, is it worth taking the kite? (I need beginners locations)

I have just returned from Darwin... Mindil beach is about 2 mins from the main strip in Darwin and every day I was there, a nice cross on shore breeze was blowing about 15-20knots.

Unfortunately there are killer jelly fish in the water so you need a full body "stinger suit" and yes - watch out for crocodiles...

There aren't that many crocs at Mindil, but it is a possibility... The beach itself is an ideal kiting location, 30 - 50 metres wide, then some easy trees and shrubs that line the beach.

Call the Darwin Met Service, i don't know the number...If you want nice flat water kiting - it certainly has potential.

Don't say I didn't warn you about the stingers and corcs, though

Definatly worth taking, Not as much wind as the southern States on average, but we get some good wind during the wet. Wind atm is pretty crappy, in the middle of the doldrums, but should pick up, with a generally Westerly feel to it.

Northerly- Darwin Surf Club
Westerly- Rapid Creek, Nightcliff Side, can go Surf club for direct onshore if you are still learning to go upwind as there are rocks along the shore with limited launch/land space. Otherwise, nice waves here :D
Southerly - Lee Point, beach access point on the way to the Buffalo Creek, starts this way once the dry kicks in.

Generally we dont bother with Mindil as the wind is better at the other places.

Bring a full Stinger suit unless you like attractive welts on your limbs.
