Last Sunday, a few of the local briso crew hit the goldie for a change and we all had a blast.
So much so, we are organising a fun downwinder with some free prizes
(in conjunction with the launch of our new website - BKB), this staurday weather permitting from Pt Cartright to Caloundra.
The aim of the whole thing is some fun and more social than anything else, but there a few good prizes going for all interested.

Stay tuned.

Send a pm for more details if interested. We are hoping for 30-40 kiters.

Yeah dude im keen, are there guna be 'best girlies'???Shud i wear my budgie smugglers??? or in my case 'cockatoo smugglers'

Is there guna be any of the Slingshot crew there??

A guy from Slingshot crew passed away and left his entire estate to
his beloved widow, but she can't touch it 'til she's 14.

P.S Did yo u hear that they have raised the minimum drinking age
in W.A to 32. It seems they want to keep alcohol out of the
primary
schools.

Yeah sounds fun but i only want to come if everyone there is wearing shorts. I swear i saw some guy (a blowin) kiting on the coast in just dicktogs an impact vest, harness and a helmet on the weekend.
Paulio's Nan keeps tellin me that the further north you travel the worse the budgie smuggling gets. 'They all kite wearing that' she says. I never believe the old bag, but maybe im starting to think shes not such a senile geriatric.........i find that scary

I saw the guy in question and thought he lost his pants in a great wipeout on his first tack! But, no it was real - and not even a euro!!

Downwinder update in the interest of safety - No shorts,no ride...!
BUT - special prize if pyslor shows with a set and does the course in them.

Yeah Bondo - planning a monthly social comp of different things
so stay tuned! I'm having 4-5 months off solid kiting/teaching so give me a call when your back in town and we can go kiting anyday!

Looking like a great day lets just hope she blows from the n at the worst, and bring your small kites!

It might become a bit dangerous if i were to do that. Whilst my legs are extremely sexy, they kinda turn bright white from the knees up, if the sun is shinning it may cause other kiters to be temporarily blinded by my beautiful white skin.

An alternative if its a NW'r is Maroochy Rivermouth (the favourable tide will be coming in till ~1pm) past Mlba to the western side of the Mooloolah river rockwall, roughly 4.6km

Theres a good carpark at either end aswell

looking like a strong NW'r aswell!

Hi Karl

I just recieved an email saying there is a demo day @ Brighton so go and check it out. It's at Scarborough beach if the wind is NW but that could be a bit crazy at it is a relatively dangerous spot and only for strong intermediates and above, plus the fact that the commercial skydivers will be operating out of there as well.

There will be all new gear at the downwinder as well as everyone going has most of the new stuff.
LF M80's (and a prototype 14m Menace),North,Best,Naish,Cabrinha,Cardboards etc. I'm sure if you ask the owners of the gear they will give you a go or give you feedback depending on your ability and the weather on the day.
Kite action in Caloundra also hold regular demo days and have a large range of brands - in stock, available for testing up there.

Hey Paulio and Psylor

I will be heading up to the pin all day Saturday and Sunday.

Am taking the Pacific Cruiser up there for the weekend, probably Friday night
.
Will be anchored up near the pin.

Should be a great weekend as it will be 37 degrees on Saturday and a strong N/Westerley. Just purrrrrrrrfect for the keyhole and the entrance.

Boat is Maggie Zee

geez Kurt nothing great happens at Brighton for ages and now you're making us pick between two events on the one day... D'oh! Methinks that may ruffle some feathers.. deliberately or accidently...

Those green arrows are slowly turning a little more northerly... let's hope they come round some more!

Not at all Dave.
You can do both - one on each day!
Just head to Wello on Sunday for the Briskites extravaganza.
That is - if you get a leave pass!!

No fear mate I helped host her grandma's 80th birthday party at our place last weekend... I've got a gold pass lined up for this weekend! And I should be able to milk it next weekend too if I play my cards right

I'd prefer to do a group downwinder and be in the surf for the first time this season than try out some kites I can't afford anyway..

All we need is some non-westerly wind for the weekend and we'll all be laughing.. except Fitzy and his crew I guess, but with a boat you guys are set no matter which way it blows

Well guys, the wind forecast isn't ideal but we are still meeting
at the Kawana SLSC at 10am and making a call from there.
We may head up a bit further north and just kite in one area
if the wind stays NW.
As I am writing this Maroochy and Cape Moreton are Northely so
fingers crossed!
Got some great prizes to give away.

Have a great safe day whatever you are up to and
at least go for a swim or surf as it will be a scorcher!

cheers
