Sounds odd. Are you using Snow Leopard or Leopard?

Hey mate,

post ur specs here so we can comment or guide you a bit better.

The more info the easier it is to help, otherwise google ur prob, and more than likely someone in the world has had exactly the same prob as you and has been kind enough to put a post up just in case someone runs into a similar problem in the future.....

If you wanna do lots of editing, basically Final Cup Pro is king from mac's...

cheers

What are you using then? Tiger?

Its worth upgrading to Leopard if you have an old mac. Much better and likely to have less issues, more support for updates etc.

You mean final cut don't you?

Final Cut Pro is great but costs a packet and requires a degree to get used to. Final Cut Express is probably the easier option to go with, but for basic editing, iMovie will do the job.

Hi Carl

I have gone through the frustrations you are experiencing. Ended up buying conversion software to change formats.

Call me on 04100 56789 (or catch me at Scarbs) to discuss. I can convert your files into something that iMovie will handle.

I am very happy with what can be produced using iMovie.

Cheers

www.sony-asia.com/electronics/support

Here is an instructional from Sony on how to get it to the Mac

Also try plug the camera in and do a software update to see if it finds an update driver. It will only pick it up if the camera is plugged in when you do it.

Those miniDVD cameras are the hardest things to edit from. Finalising the disc and putting it in a computer disc drive was the only way I could get one to work on a pc, never tried on a mac but feel your pain. [}:)]

Imovie usual picks up from the firewire port rather than usb on my macbook, does the cam have a firewire out??
