not really its a old kite, it was the first kite best used the cuben fibre leading edge on, it had a SUPER DUPER thing LE which gave it its light wind capabilities aparantly?i mean come on look at that LE on a 13m, its the size of like a 2m kite's LE!!!!!!!!!!!!! but that kite had issues and had 2 have a recall or so i have been told. proly y u dont c many of them flying everyday thers no wind

Ok so we all know the hellfish had some serious durability problems but clearly was onto something I reckon, why did everyone just abandon ship on the idea. I know that bladders etc. are getting increasingly smaller and the kites are getting more efficient but not to the extent claimed by the hellfish. Is it because it is imposible to build the hellfish in such dimensions and still maintain strength? I never seen one or tried one but always wish I got a go, it can't seriously all be hype can it, they must of been pretty good despite the obvious broke in 2 sessions problem.

yes i heard great stories when i bought my waroo from anabatic and had the history of best layd out on the table but yeah i think they cant maintain the strength of the LE when it is that small.. but it seams they have refined their cuben fibre tech with the waroo pro, which is probably why they have such great low end grunt and performance? maybe for 08 theil bring out HF2

the waroo pro has a cuben fibre le wrapped in dacron (read pointless). and near f'all cuben fibre in the canopy.

marketing

charl dv. A smaller LE is under less stress then a larger LE for a given pressure.

The problem lies in the fact that LE stiffness is proportional to the square of half the diameter of the LE.

decreases in LE size requires significantly greater increases in LE inflation pressure to maintain the same stiffness.

So the hellfish had to be pumped to like 10psi or it would jellyfish.

Which would be fine normally, but cuben fibre needs to be glued by specialist (and expensive) machines or it tears. Best went the cheap option, tryed to sew the cuben fibre and it stuffed up!.

The cuben fibre was supposed to be stronger allowing for a smaller LE pumped to higher pressures. A smaller LE means less profile and a less grunty kite, so i doubt the waroo pro has more low end grunt. More likely it has significantly less drag with only a little loss in lift (lower L/D) and is therefor more efficient.

The question is, why push for material development to allow for increased efficiency when no one wants it and designers don't strive for it?

Mediocre performing kites that are safe, fun to fly and easy to use are way better.

Yeah, the "Stale Fish

for about 4 weeks and then it started to shed it's skin...no silver lining left ?
Good news a least they had the guts to take them off the shelves and make something better.
