Hey there,

Yep I know this is an old kite and I would buy something newer if I had the cash to splash, but alas I dont.

My fuel is in good shape besides the **** glue used by slingshot to stick the valves on with, I've spent far too money trying to get it fixed by local kite shops but the problem has just come back again today when I was heading out to work on my skills.

To say I was ****ty is an under statement, can anybody help me with some maybe excess to requirement baldders or valves? or maybe even any cheap old 13m 05 fuel parts. surely there must be some collecting dust in a garage some where in Australia.

Cheers

Horey

Have you contacted Slingshot direct? Some companies can be really good when you contcact them direct.

Don't despair yet Horey.
Are you sure it's 05 not 04. I had an 04 with this problem. The more I fixed it the worse it got, over only a very brief period. On the brink of a nervous breakdown I contacted the slingshot distributer. They knew all about this problem. Put it out in the sun to set the glue & with the heat another valve lets go. I was ropeable but I must say slingshot was very soothing & replaced all bladders under warrantee.
See what they have to say anyway. Good luck.
cheers COL

Wow we are all quick to bag a company aren't we- 05 is old and past its useby, but if you can't afford an upgrade fair enough.

I have a Rhino 05 that did the same thing, sitting on the beach and the valve just popped off. The u stick valves are a good idea but expensive.

Grab the repair kit from a Naish kite and try the glue in that, worked for mine.

I don't see any other 05 kites still flying.

I saw one of the lads at Scarborough a couple of days ago flying a 2004 Airush 14m Flow. Looked in pretty much mint condition and you know what? It still pulled his ar$e in and out through the surf

U-Stick valves or even a tube of "Liquide Vulcanisant" from your local cyclery. For $5 it is cheap and works fine.

Good winds,

If you end up gluing them back on yourself, Stormsure glue from Clarke Rubber sticks valves back on like nothing else I've tried. You need to peel of the whole valve though, get a clean surface then glue it back on. The drawback is that you need to leave it for 24 hours before reinstalling and inflating... It won't come off again.

Its not limited to 04's. 05s and even 06s went eventually (just replaced a one pump connection on my 06 11m).

I've gone for the U-stick option this time to see how it goes, will give you feedback after the weekend

Lets not forget that kites sitting out in the sun or in hot cars weakens construction - especially here in WA where it gets up to 40+ in the height of summer. We all leave our slightly soggy kites cooking in the boot of our cars when we are pulling 4-5 sessions a week.

As the saying goes take care of your kit and it will take care of itself.

Tear aid bladder repair works pretty well, bit of glue as well doesn't hurt.
Had every bladder valve fail within a month, I know your pain...

This has nothing to do with this topic, but I took extremely good care of my lines, washing them in fresh water after every session, and in under less than a year, they are stretched. Carry on...

Horey,

I think the 05 Fuels did do this a bit, mine certainly did. I can recommend the U-Stick valve replacement as mentioned by Sci. I replaced my fuels valve with this and it worked a treat. I used the kite plenty after replacing it and it held up without a drama. Simple to do, just take your time aligning over the hole.

Lemo, all lines stretch, some more than others. Check them regularly and make the necessary adjustments.

"Tarzans grip" works aswell. Sci got it in one. If you've got to leave kites in the car on a hot day, at least park in the shad. You should be able to get hold of one for about $250 in good condition with bar and line. Why your at it get an 11 and 9 as well. And you get to write everyone off who rides a bow.
