Can anybody recommend a board repairer (fibreglass) in Perth for a twin tip kiteboard. I am thinking of re-edging my board with fibreglass cloth as it is getting tired, but still an excellent board so worth keeping. If I cannot get a reasonable quote I am going to try to do it myself. Any tips from DIY fibreglass repairs? Have got some info from google as well.
Cheers

Ive done it a few times on my old underground flx after taking chuncks out of the rail on rocks... it's very easy and cheap
go to FMS and buy some 2 part epoxy resign.. you only need about 200ml total which is usually 100 ml of each if it's a 50/50 mix. While your there you can buy some fine q-cell filler OR do what i did and use talcum powder from coles, it works the same. next you pour out the required ammount of resin and stir well so the two parts are mixed, make sure you have room left in your mixing container. Then add talcom powder and stir until mixed.. your trying to achieve a crunchy penut butter style consistency, and it will take a couple minutes of adding talcum and mixing until you get there... you want to be able to scoop up a bit and have the resin hold its shape and not run off the scooper.
next is the easy bit... scrape it on your rail so that the rail is completely covered where you want to repair / shape... this stuff is easy to sand because of the talcom powder so its ok if you have big blobs of it on there. then you need to wait 24-48 hrs for it to dry ROCK, then you can sand with a file or paper... as i said be gentle because this is nothing like sanding fibreglass, the epoxy comes off very easy and it will only take 3-4 minutes to shape your entire rail however you want.... you can leave it like this if you like( i did, and any further dings are EASY just make some more penut butter and sand it off), or mix up a small ammount of epoxy without the talcumn powder and paint it on the rail with a small paint brush to " seal" and don't sand it afterwards... theres not really any point in doing that apart from changing the texture as the glue is allready sealed..
have fun!

cheers! I'll try that on the small chunk that was taken out of it and then I am going to get it professionally re-edged as I really like the board and wouldn't mind another season or two out of it.
