why so hard to believe ?

way back in time, before kiteboarding, and even before wakeboardingwere invented, water skiers used "trick skis" with no fins.
Not much of a leap to a kiteboard with no fins

Yeah no real revelations here but Mini Mal has it. Finless is no probs in flat water but in chop, less ability to hold an edge and more assistance needed by way of fins.

I tried using no fins when I was riding straps and I found that I was shaken out of the straps in the chop. After moving to bindings (non backless;)) and doing some riding at the cable park with no fins I tried it again on the kite. Now I wont go back so much more fun but works better with boots.

If you have binding with front, back and top and a board with bottom contours you will probably find it better with fins no matter what the situation. Well thats what my son has told me anyway.

Fins:
You can go backwards and forwards really easily and upwind is no probs either.

No Fins:
You can ride over the beach/reef/sliders/kickers, in the really shallow stuff. You can ride with the board at basically any angle, you can switch and slid around a lot. Riding blind is way easier BUT you don't go any where near as well up wind without your fins.
With straps it is really not that easy to do it all as you have to pull back on the board a lot and you would become angry very quickly. you can't load up as much (can dig in but that's not what it's about), landings are sketchy and you find yourself riding in a totally different style.

I am over no fins and bindings, I will be getting a lunacy or 666 this season and not put bindings on it and keep my current board for those days that it is really going off and I wanna "Get loose". I don't mind anyone trying it out if you see me around (white bindings, no fins) but you will hate it as it is completely different. Not worse but different.

i found nofins = better upwinding.

loading and popping feels completely different and in flat water its hell of alota fun, i might try it again eventually when i get a decent board fr my booties
