Heyo!

We are going kiting in Asia in November + December and the lady is a beginner.

Initially we were planning on going to Mui Ne or Phan Thiet first and then possibly Palawan in the Philippines.

However, now im reading all about Vietnam having very choppy / crowded / wavy conditions.

My question is; are there any open, flat windy spots close to Mui Ne or other places in Vietnam?

What are people experiences with Palawan? Lots of flat water?

I didn't see any round mui ne. There 3 weeks. was ok, the only thing I really rated was compressed air on the beach and bars where you could literally drop your bar and wander in harness & all for a cold beer & plate of spring rolls & watch the show... Apart from that, not in a hurry to return..

It (Palawan) doesn't seem like it's huge yet. Not as strong winds from what I understand but still 15-20 knts which is fine by me! I'll let you know if I find out more..

Phan Rang seems like you need to be on a guided tour? Something with permits?

My hope for Mui Ne is the Phan Thiet Harbour Wall. I've read good things about it's flat water and it doesn't seem super crowded. Any experience?

tried a lot to find that Phan Thiet Harbour Wall but nothing,
i thing you should try the north side of the Mui Ne beach which has shallow waters but a bit gustier
to visit Phang Rang you should only find Mr Phi who organises the bus tour there with a night to stay there too, he is a cool guy and good kiter!
i think there are many others spots much better than mui ne

I've heard about this Mr. Phi :) Was it expensive to go with him?

Qi is on part of the beach and were friendly. Basic accommodation around that area once you ask around, pre-paid for a month in Boracay once, wont make the same mistake again. The Qi owner gave me the name of a place as they were full at the time, I'm looking for that. unless its in the too cheeky basket send Qi an inquiry about other options?

We have now booked 10 days at a cheaper resort 15 min south of Qi, on the same coast. Kitesurfing there should be identical. But maybe we'll spend 1-2 nights at Qi as well. Either way I'm pumped. El Nido / Palawan seems like pain to get around in but the surroundings seem superb, and not crowded :)Will still visit Mui Ne later possibly, maybe we'll be lucky and find a not so crowded spot :)

I did pawalan mid to late march and winds were already quieter than any other time I had been in the Philippines which is dec/janFeb and I'm normally sweet on 12m and occasionally a 9 (94kg) but I would have loved a 15 m juice this summer been. moved to Perth this year so might not be in Phili for a bit, there are tons of amazing places to be had. My advice, take all three if your missus is fired up.

What's the name of the resort? Keen to hear how it goes.

Mui Ne was very choppy and the Shorey is fun it was an over head wall of water smearing euro kites right up the beach, made for fun watching. It is crowded but it's a long beach and i just moved up and down wind it was fun but will make you miss kiting at home. a short ride north is a spot called turtle island and it looked pretty cool , I didn't kite it but I watched crew and it looked good smooth with kickers coming through.
Than thiet harbour wall is pretty easy to find any taxi driver will take you there and we just found it back streeting on motorbikes it's a good spot for learners though the freestyle boys take the corner and if you drift to far downwind there is fishing nets.
I did a downwinder from mui ne to phan thiet harbour that was really fun but the thing with kiting Vietnam is the water is pretty filthy it's brown with bits of rubbish so I never felt the urge to go back there I'm sure there would be better places to go
