Okay the coords you gave put you opposite Bullbali Pt, Waroora Station, in the ocean, north of Gnarloo. What are the WGS84 Coords ?

If my chart Software is correct then I have sailed (i.e. on a small cat) up and down the coast and kited at a few spots as well. Assuming I have your location right you may be looking at 14 mile Beach, Pelican Pt or Bullbali.

The area is known as Waroora station you can book and camp there much like Gnarloo. It is little cheaper but no shops or water. Coral Bay has the nearest shops and water (you buy water from caravan park, since they make all water up there using desalination).

Bullbali is a really good reef break (which you may already know) this is a bit protected to get winds I have never had good wind there and only been out in off shores.

There are lots of little bays and reef breaks all the way up that can be good for kiting with the right wind. What the reef they can get nasty.

North of Bullbali it is Pelican Pt and Pelican Bay (possibly what you have seen on Google). This is a dead bay and fishing is banned, only small reef sharks live in it, so I'm told the last time my friends kited in it. It does offer flat water, but is a bit protected so you may have issues kiting there. I can't remeber the winds when we went out but it was marginal arround May.

Further north is 14 mile beach with is good camping but can get choppy, not really flat water and only one really good break at the start of 14 mile about 1NM (1.8km off shore).[}:)]

Further north again is Boat Passage or Soutrher passage good for learning to wave ride, but the reefies can scare you if your not use to them.

Just a few notes if you want anything more specific just reply to the post.

The coordinates are correct, and places it south of Cape Cuvier (south of Gnarloo) wich looks like a wharf for the near by salt mine.
Its a lagoon with an island similar to Lano or wedge.

cheers

Is this the spot you mean?

www.google.com:443/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=24+29'16S,+113+24'37E&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=14&ll=-24.488711,113.417702&spn=0.038586,0.085487&t=k&iwloc=addr

Just around the corner from the blow holes. Looks quite narrow. What's the prevailing wind up there? S? SW? Looks like a nice wave just south of that island too.

Okay yes that looks like the blow holes you can get there by road. I have never kited there, good spot for fishing and cathing Trevlies. The houses ete you can see are the squatters camps, I think you can free camp for a small fee. There is a lighthouse on the hill just to the north. The south is covered by shoals and the waves are not too big though some locals do surf them. Maybe the currents would be a bit of an issue due to the shoals just to the south. Ihave sailed through there once and it was not fun.

if u are after flat water around gnaraloo
there is a very good spot north of three mile camp
need to go thru the station to gnaraloo bay
the lagoon is south, can walk around from the bay parking area or park just past the gate and walk approx 400m west thru a few coastal dunes
has wide sandy beach, wide lagoon even afew ripples here and there
good option if the surf is a bit intimidating

I have driven by that lagoon before. It is dry at low tide so you may need to check the charts before your trip. Alternatively check out shark alley (the bay) or head north around the bay (if there is a little bit of swell, theres a small wave there too if the banks have formed). You can also kite here in an easterly but can get gusty.

Cheers

Yeah,
the Carnarvon locals call this spot Black Rocks.
That's because the spot has black rock on the shoreline,
but they are soft ones like hard clay.
It's mainly a fisho spot but a local poley I knew would drive there often for a quick wavesail.
It works best on a straight SE.
(3/4hr drive from Carnarvon).

If you are heading to Gnaraloo, and you get to the Blow-Holes T-section and it's howling SE,
turn left down the sand track and ride Black Rocks,
cause Gnaraloo will be unkite-able on SE.
The spot has lots of fun ramps on a big swell.
