Hey kiting folk,

Just a heads up, I am putting on another freestyle clinic up Noosa way this time.

Check out the events section for more details. Coaches will be myself, Andy Yates and Dave Sorrensen, should be awesome. Great freestyle locations up there including the river if its northerly or the lakes for any other directions.

Looking for riders who are wanting to progress be it hooked in or the latest technical moves. With Andy fresh from a 3rd place win in New Cal, he is on fire and will deliver competition style riding advice and tuition, so if you are looking for a competitive edge this will be a clinic not to miss.

Cheers, Chris Wardell

There is a little rumour going around that we may even have Ruben Lenten make a guest appearance at the clinic.

Not to take anything away from this awesome rider, but IMO Andy Yates being voted rookie of year in his first PKRA year and only being narrowly defeated by Arron Hadlow in his last event, is by far a more rounded and consistent rider and is the rider every one is talking about as the next possible world champ!

I would love to see Ruben attend our clinic, but having Andy Yates all ready commit his time and providing coaching adds far more benefit and weight to the clinic.

Watch this space, I will update you if Ruben is a definate, but at this stage Andy is...

Clinic Update...

Wind looks like it may be from the south, so we will plan for a full day at the lake on the Saturday and make a call later in the week for Sunday.

The forecast for Sat is SE 15kts which if it comes to fruition, is the best wind range for getting down new tricks. Lets hope the wind does hang around this week because I am told by George and Fiona at Kitesurf Aus, that the lake is an awesome learning pond that is pretty much waiste deep the whole way and plenty of room to spread riders out.

Should be good fun and very educational.

Look forward to seeing you all there, for further info give George and Fiona a call this week..

Best regards,

Chris

Latest wind forecast looks like NW, which hopefully means a good NE seabreeze!

The plan will be for all riders to meet at Kitesurf Australia, Noosaville at 10 - 10:30 Saturday morning. We will more than likely hit up the north shore area through the use of boat transfer.

Looks like we will have wind for sure just not exactly sure of the direction as it has changed twice all ready! We will know more as this current weather pattern starts to move north or further off shore.

As well has being blessed by having young gun Andy Yates on staff, we will also be greeted by PKRA judge and respected kiteboarding photographer Toby Bromwich.
Lets hope for sunny conditions as you never know, you may get a cover shot for Core Online ,magazine!
I may even get Toby to give riders a quick presentation on what makes a good shot and how best to work in with the photographer. An awesome opportunity, especially if you are sponsored or trying to grab potential sponsors attention. Nothing will standout more than a professional sequence shot or an awesome still.

This clinic is certainly building to be an exciting couple of days, can't wait!

Cheers Chris

Hi guys it would be great to have Ruben LENTEN up here but even if he cant come its awesome of you guys and SLINGSHOT to put in such an effort. Be able to say soon if its likely to be NE, but either way, plenty of flat water to use and a great chance to test out some slingy gear. Went to Chris's earlier clinic and it was great value, learnt some new stance and moves. Great to see Andy representing Oz overseas and really looking forward to seeing some of his moves again. Still a few spots left for both days, so let us know if you are up for a challenge.

Have Fun

The latest update....

We will all meet at KSA, Noosaville about 10am. From todays wind, in turned onshore about 11am, so with that to work off we should get similar wind for Saturday.

The plan will be get everybody together, have a chat in the shop area, Toby Bromwich will give a quick presentation on working with a photographer etc, so that will be awesome straight up. Then we will start to boat taxi people and gear out to the north shore.

If anyone has any last minute questions give me a call on 0422 430430 or PM me [email protected]

Best regards, Chris

A big thank you to all the riders who attended the Slingshot Freestyle Clinic, hosted by Adventure Sports & Kitesurf Australia, Noosa.

Unfortunately the wind did not perform and we had little chance to achieve anything on the water. I thank everyone for their patience and willingness to try anyway! The plan is we will definately conduct another clinic in coming weeks, hoping to achieve some quality riding time and coaching.

I will update this post with info as it develops and will be discussing details with George and Fiona this week. So stay tuned.....

Really want to say a massive thanks to George and Fiona and their two boys, for all the effort over the weekend and weeks leading into the clinic. Thank you also for having us all over Saturday night for beers and cheers!

To the Slingshot Team - Andy Yates, Dave Sorrensen and Andy Blythe, greatly appreciate the effort and input you guys gave to the clinic, especially Dave for the 12 hour drive up from Slingy HQ in Newcastle, not to mention the drive home!!

The next clinic will be again on a weekend and I am hoping to have Andy Yates and Andy Blythe available, we may not have Dave drive up this time, but he is a sucker for punishment, we will see.

Again, thank you and please stay in touch with the Shop for updates. But in the interim, what would be awesome is if you guys could get some video footage of your riding right now, video your fav moves, your good and bad and we will preview vids before the clinic and critique riders one on one. If you have access to video this should be relatively easy but if you do not know of anyone with a video, we will video your riding on the first day of the clinic. Only need a few minutes, you can either drop it onto disk or even leave it on camera and let the guys at the shop know and we will come look at it.

Cheers, Chris

BIG thanks to Chris and as he mentioned Dave, Andy Yates and Andy Blythe. You did an awesome job even though the wind didn't oblige.

Special thanks Chris and Andy B for using your tinny to grab the few who couldn't make it back across the lake in the offshore westerly we unseasonally managed to get.

We are looking forward to redoing the clinic and catching up with everyone again, so as Chris said, drop your video into the store. If you need a hand burning it from video to disc, we can help out (or Simon our oldest can anyway, he just doesn't know it yet).

You never know guys, Liam (8) might be ready for his first back roll by then, although he thinks that he is already ready for it.

Will be in touch with everyone by email ASAP.

Have Fun!
