I was having a conversation with a few people the other day about Gear maintenance and safety.

Going back a few years 03-06 the build quality of the kites on the market was lower than today's kites so the upgrading of gear was generally on a yearly basis due to the rapid increase of technology. With the expansion of the sport becoming bigger and the second hand market following there are some issues which i would like to hear some others opinions on.

The build quality and materials used on kites mostly from 07 onwards are better and the life of the kites have been increased greatly and parts such as pulleys on the newer Bow and SLE kites are breaking more frequently due to increased use over longer periods of time.

With new comers to the sport looking to enter as cheaply as possible i think this may become a major issue this season and the next to come with the increased use of older gear.

- pulleys breaking (on older bow kites)
- lines (which has always been an issue)
- old worn out kite materials......

any others you can think of?

My 0.02

- chicken loop line (yes that furry thing)
- kite attachment points (they wear on the kite side)
- where your leader lines attach to your bar
