The Blast was an awesome event last year and Gavin is sure to make it even bigger and better this year - so get up to Gero, kite hard, party hard and check out the venue for the Oz Nats next Jan!

I expect I will go for a look and I expect I shall have a spare seat and plenty of room for kites/boards if anyone wants a lift up. I expect I shall be flexible in return time too, if you want to come back to Perth Sunday night or Monday morning (or Monday arvo).

i think there was bout 25 kiters from perth went up male and female and from who i have spoken too it is going to be huge. new comp format being used same as gravity games. only count top 5 scoring tricks so you dont have to keep doing heaps of little tricks to build up your score. also separate wave comp so it should be a sick weekend

Funny you should ask, I just removed my signature after that last post. It was latin for 'If you can read this, you are overeducated'. Apparently, as I don't know any latin. Getting old, and I'd revealed the secret already a couple of times.

Anyway the seat is still available. There's only one, as it's a ute, but plenty of room for kites and boards in the back. Flexible departure and arrival time due to my roster, anytime from leaving Thursday morning through to coming back Monday night. I'd be keen for some company on the drive.

Great to hear waves will be treated with the respect they deserve!

Wouldn't just rating the top 5 scoring moves discourage depth in a kiter's ability/repetoire? The highest scoring moves these days appear to be things like handle passes and kite loops which definitley require considerable skill, but being able to perform the highest scoring moves isn't as meaningful if you don't have the small stuff to back it up with. I would have thought the cumulative system would give a more accurate result of the most rounded kiter...?

Maybe there's a great advantage to the system I've missed?

If its similar to the system at gravity games, theres a style and variety "multiplier" which seems to cover this well.

Dale,
It's going to be huge. Make sure you bring at least a 9mt if you're a heavyweight or a 6mt if you're a liteweight. Over 30knts is common in Jan.
