Yep .. was a great turnout on Saturday. Great vid, as was his Gravity Games video .. it's unreal to see Australian's doing the business on the water and behind the camera.

Guys, mine stuffed up as well. I used DVD Decrypter with a brute force approach to suck the data onto my computer (successfully) and burnt a fresh copy which worked fine. Perhaps OX there is a problem with the way you are burning your DVDs? Either way, my fresh copy worked fine and the DVD is awesome. Thanks again.

Dear puppet,
With all respect to Aaron who is a friend of mine, hand drag transitions, handstand on board transititions, and the other Arc flying shinanigans may be a bit fun for the spectator to watch but it puts our sport backwards a few years. Saying that those tricks would fit in well on the KPWT tour with the 'rodeo board off board slap' the 'barefoot waterski' the 'triple kicking judo air' and the 'board off to pullup handle pass'
Aaron doesn't want to unhook but to do the real 'cool' tricks sorry puppet...you have to.

Think we may be arguing definition here richirich
Thought I had sort of made your point when I said ;

But I reckon you have raised a really important issue here.
Sure I agree that to sort the 'best from the rest' you have to limit the competitive extreme end of our sport to the most technically difficult moves possible. But this does not necessarily make them the "cool" moves. Nor does it make them the ones us everyday kite-4-fun kiters should aspire to or even bother attempting. Personally I will never become (or would ever be able to become) a freestyle competitive kiter. I am quite content to fill my days with fun kiting and when my skills progress to working up tricks then it will be Aaron-style-Shinanigans that I will be looking to master.
IMHO that is the way the masses should & will move as the kiting population grows.
Suggesting that these "cool" moves; ie the ones you admit thrill the spectators; set our sport back several years is definitely (IMO) out of whack. They may have been surpassed as measures of excellence at the extreme competitive edge of our sport but if they are the moves which thrill the spectators then they are the moves which will advance our sport amongst all those beyond the necessarily small minority who are prepared to put in the effort (& bear the pain) of chasing the ultimate glory.
Because I have a bit of an insight into the technicality of kiting I could watch guys like you pulling off all those "radical moves" for as long as you could keep doing them - awesome - I love it. But for wider pure spectator value & for fun kiteing value give me the "cool shinanigans". .... Everytime
"I just wanna grow up and become an Aaron Jarman"
Trouble is that Im having extreme difficulty acheiving either of these goals right now

Sorry puppet,
when i read your post i thought your point was aaron should have won the thing.
you are right..We all should ride like aaron because he does ride for himself and no one else and he definately was at the top of competition in australia a couple years back...and he has smooth style.
But I thought you were saying that THAT is what should win the nats
anyway
this thread is about the DVD. nice one OX
The footage is good though some bits get a little shaky- must have been the 30+ knots blowing the camera around
Good editing and music though I would rather have riden to NUFAN or pennywise than Radiohead.
I have 4 copies on the way. Thanks OX for making a DVD video album of a great week- something to show the grandkids.

send it up

Personally Richie, I think you smoke cock if you thought Puppets speil about Aaron was saying that, (thats where it's at). And please not be forgetting that the only time we saw Aaron on the water that week was during a lull in the comp and he went out and blew spectators AND competitors minds with his fluid style and totally smooth understanding of nature and how it works (you gotta remember, he was on a FOIL).
IMO Aaron has proved himself more than a competitor than is regarded by todays standards, IE if you can't have an eppie fit 5 foot off the water than you're crap.
Haven't agreed with much Puppet and his missus have said in the past but gotta agree with this.
If you read this Aaron, You rock, more people should ride like you.
