Hi all,new to site and just wanted to ask how long it takes to get started and confident.Had one lesson flying kite and safety with ian young at scarbs,cant praise him enough. cheers.

Keep doing it ste, take some more lessons (at least two or three), before you decide to buy and go by yourself.

You're in good hands.
It would be great if you can get a "trainer" kite or power kite to practice with in your own time.
Once you are comfortable with that, one or two sessions with Ian should see you on the water and under control. Enjoy

I'd highly recommend the trainer kite as well, I've just had 3 lessons and my time flying a small trainer before that (probably about 6 hours all up) made flying the big kites much easier.

If you're new to board sports wakeboarding is also highly recommended if you can. I'd never really done any board stuff before and after tearing through the kite stuff I spent the last lesson falling off the board...
