I think the term is 'wind wife', different varieties include 'kite-wife' and well in windsurfing its just wind wife.

I have the same issue with my missus hating me constantly talking about windsurfing, i've tried to teach her (and she's going okay), but apparently constantly talking about the sport, new gear, wind etc makes her start to hate it (when she likes it enough)

So i gather it's the same in the kiting world

If anyone finds an answer, please fill me in. It'd be much appreciated

Just hit him every time he brings up the subject. If he is not a masochist you should be right.

Hey I've got one of those too, but she's a wind wife for all sorts of other reasons...In fact, I recon if you could harness the wind that comes outa both ends, we'd all be kiting 25knots 12months of the year

Yeah I'm with Caelah on this one. Learn from a qualified instructor not your husband, it will only cause disagreements and arguements. I've tried teaching family (I know it's not a husband but I'm a little young to be thinking about marriage. Lol) but it's similar I guess. Give it a go, see how you find it, you might find a new addiction that completely takes over you life - Like me!! I'm sure many other kiteboarders out there know what I'm talking about.

Plus we need more girls kiting!!

Start kiting!! Start kiting!!
Once the bug gets you, you will understand why he talks about it so much. I am the teryiaki chicken Jacq, boyfriend being the medic, & I admit I love watersports (or any sports of any kind) but I was intrigued as to why he lived & breathed this sport. So I took it up...now I have a brand new Airush DNA & can't stop watching kitin or reading about it or talking about it. Favourite female kiter is Gisela Pulido, she rips hardcore!
OR...
U could just find a topic that annoys your man & when he complains about u talking about it....hit him with the "deal"! U shut up if he does!
I would never do that to you Josh babe! Just so u know....I just speak multitudes of crap....but at least it is never silent round me![}:)]

how could you ever get sick of hearing about kiting? i love it, and i love how my boyfriend is so into the sport. He was kiting way before i came along so why would i take that passion away from him. Every morning when he wakes he looks outside his window and sees the whitecaps, knowing exactly that the wind is on its way. His favourite site is seabreeze and BOM which is also booked marked on my phone and my computer LOL. I love watching him kite in the cold and the heat, its an amazing sport and my boyfriend even has time to teach my son and my daughter is even showing interest. Sounds like you may just have to keep listening to him talk about it.

Yes I am what you call a ‘kite wife’ and I’m starting to get sick of hearing about kiting and wind. I really, honestly want to care and want to be interested but I also want to know if there is any way I can get my boyfriend to stop talking about it besides distracting him with food and sex. It’s getting tiring.

Haha

LEX i hope you didnt message me when you were with your misses saying there was wind....

Ummm nar never haha, shes now living in newtown so its onlt a 20min drive from hers to botany,,,, gotta love it. She has a Damn windsurfer at her home but won't bring it to sydney. Im all the pole she needs.

LOL lex...

THIS is exactly why there are no females any higher than... 'good friend' status... if you catch my drift. It's so wonderful not having to worry about the constraint. Although it has got to the point where parents, best mates and the boss are beginning to despise my kiting addiction. I will drop anything to be there when the wind is blowing... the fickle mistress she is

Run from the commitment... run for the kite!

My partner has been kiting since April 2000 and was the only bloke in town at the time doing so.
I gave it a go back then, it wasn't for me, but still used to go down the beach and watch out for him, just incase he came unstuck. Though it was a real bore watching him go flat out down wind on a 6.5 metre, 2 line, Wipeka kite in a howling N Easterly, times have definately changed.

Instead of sitting at home, why not get out with your man, take your camera, a bottle of champagne and get creative. Really tease him too and take lots of cool beachy photos and not them showing off. That really anoys them when they want to have a look....

You never know, you may even get hooked on the sport. I love it now and have some great kiting/beach shots.
That is my contribution to the sport, which my partner just loves.
Hey, he even bought me a brand new camera, lenses, case, tri pod worth $5000. Well if they buy a kite, board or harness every year, I recon we should match their spending too.

All men need a hobby and kiting is a great, healthy way to go. It is better then them sitting in the pub or wasting money at the T.A.B.

Good luck chicken.
Regards Em.

Yes my life also revolves around what little green arrows. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly things seem to get done. I don't love the wetsuit smell in the bathroom but I do love all the weekends away! Well, now that I have lots of wind-proof gear :-))))

You will always come 2nd to the wind, it never changes, you just have to accept it and spend half your life down the beach getting blown away.
