Hi All

Heading to the Gold Coast in Oct and I am hoping someone can tell me what kitesurfing conditions to expect and where to kite. I am staying at Greenmount for two weeks and would like to kitesurf there or nearby if conditions and/or local rules/guidelines permit. Don't want to tread on toes as I am not a fan of it when someone does the wrong thing in our spot.

Will be bringing a slingy 13m Fuel.
Cheers

gumby,

i was in byron bay last october and had 5 straight days of NE from dawn to dusk ranging from about 15-25+ knots. Only took my 12 but could have done with my 10 for the afternoon sessions.

not sure about spots near u but seem to remember seeing someone setting up on the beach just north of kirra which isn't too far away is it?

hi gumbo,
october is more than likely to be a good month on the goldy.
winds are usually northerlies of around 15 knots with a southerly front chucked in every week which usually reverts back to a northerly in a couple of days.
more than likely you will use your 13 no problems, however tens can be required in some of the more generous southerly fronts.in which case currumbin can produce all time down the line waveriding.
currumbin is a popular kiting spot and is 10 mins from coolie, check out the scene, chat whith the locals, its a great spot on both wind directions, but if it is offshore on a southerly head north to surfers paradise and meet the crew at narrowneck.
normal safety rules apply and remember , stay 200 meters away from the flagged swimming areas.the professional lifeguard(bless them)have a wonderful agreement with us kiters that we should never even come close.so if one approaches you just agree, smile and run away.
and don't kite at rainbow bay it's off limits.
regards ian

That's funny paulio.

"Narrow-minded morons from south" (your quote)

make up the bulk of Gold Coast residents, along with Little Tokyo and 1/3 of Kiwiland.

Have a nice kite,

Its a generic fact that we derived from primates. In the beginning some could not start fire , some still walk on fours , some still grunt , some insestual , some lack the basics of hygiene and the better of you all moved to QLD.

And for the concern 'I always have a nice kite'

and the gold coast is a great place to kite with a great kiting community.
paulio is always restrained on the beach and then released for his unhooked deadmans.
unfortunately his nan lets him into the computer room while she is bathing.
and shaving.

ha ha ha
I am not sure waveslave the most common response you get here when you meet anyone is "oh yea moved up from Sydney or Melbourne last year" that and the fact the new trendiest sydney suburb is palmy. Come all ye to the Goldcoast hell we even have idiots flying in from Perth to ride Snappa for the weekend when its on he he he[}:)] long way to come for three waves

Anyone heard about the 2006 north i have paid for my 2006 gear(what a relief) but think i might wait untill that little gem appears-it is bound to be tasty.

If ya all not doing anything for the indy weekend come down to Hayley park swimming enclosure for skydiving swoop contest it rocks

I think i might be alittle timid after yesterday. what a bashing. Poor kite control whilst being high in the air equals very sore richo mmmmmh

Richo, i told you to wait for the camera before trying kiteloops
Paulio, Paulio, Paulio you telling me you had a nice kite today? It must feel great to have 6 ltrs of water forced up your nose. I thought for a second you were Moses trying to part the Red Sea.

"And the Lord said unto Paulio, Lift thou up thy kite, and drag out thine body over the sea, and divide it. And Paulio dragged out his body over the sea, and the waters were divided. And the children of Loders went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left."

And the Lord also said' "Let not those who cast the first stone be the one who ride in a death leash unhooked in 18knotts gusting to 30knotts to be T bagged down the dead sea of the broadwater" then the arc angel 'windy' gave you both a flogging and there was wailing an crying in the streets when the angel passed over 'Ben n Jason' and there was laughing in park as the rest of the appostles cringed an your impending trouble.

May you all go in peace to love and serve me!!

Book of Paul
Psalm 110,111
verse 01

For forty days and forty nights
the sick and the ill waited for summer to come
the clouds rolled over and gusty wind came and trees were uprooted
there was more wailing from the park as Richard and ben went out,and dark clouds and floogings were iminant as jason flew a 12.
Then a large voice came form the car and loaves and fishes and KFC were divided to feed the many hungry.
Then ben spoke unto patrick and said "go unto Bigdog and tell him a 12 is better"
Bigdog decided downwinda was the go and left with a gust of wind.

May you all go in peace to love and serve.
P.S Till wed caus we get northerlys then

Hey Paulio

Simon the Pom left his Black WindWing punp at Shear on Saturday.

I remember Paul (yellow wettie) using it to pump up his 10 when he came in to downsize.

He may have taken it home. Do you have his number ?
