Great to catch up with everyone over the last four days at the Gravity Games,

VERY dissapointed with the wind and the set-up that perth (only deserves a little letter) put on for what is supposed to be a world tour event even with all logisitics considered.

wind forecast has a grin retuning.....Kalbarri to Jurien Bay:
Strong Wind Warning current.
Monday until midnight: S/SE winds 20/30 knots, shifting S/SW 20/30 knots inshore in the afternoon. Seas 2.0m to 2.5m. Swell to 4.0m, slowly easing. (means cleaning up and getting amongst it)

Blessings

I wouldn't blame Perth, Gav. I'd be looking at Octagon letting the kitesurfing community down big time. But overall it was a fantastic event. Well done Ian!

Sorry,
Correct you are....brilliant effort Perth kite crew. Tired and cross after the long drive didn't have me thinking clearly.
Apologies.

Pt Gregory.......not Dongera

SSShhhhh.....we await the AKSA verdict with event insurance. It will be interesting if the insurance issue has been dealt with or not. A specific policy was taken out just for the Nationals.

If a policy hasn't been negotiated and we remain on the policy conditions that existed before the Nationals.......

Then legally no council in WA anywhere on the West coast will allow a competition endorsed by the WAKSA/AKSA insurance for comps unless it holds a specific insurance policy for that event. Which, retails for about $4000.00

The underwriters of all WA councils do not recognise the AKSA policy in regards to COMPETITIONS. Legally they can't really take that stance but it's more political than legal. Sort of like one insurance company not liking the CEO of another...that sort of thing. Just making life difficult at the ground level.

Hopefully this will all be behind us soon as WAKSA are doing a sweet job trying to sort this out with AKSA. It's a long road and it's still winding. All other states in Australia recognise the policy of AKSA, it's just us backward conservative WA mob making things difficult.

So there's a lot of gaps in the above that I can't fill in for legal reasons.

I have things ready to let loose up here publicly with the comp, but will not be doing that until a few fundamentals are sorted. Hopefully we will know in a few days/weeks.

If all things are rosey then it will be excellent...The focus is on the kiter population as a whole. Families, couples, beginners, intermediate. Unfortunately for you pro's you will be taking the backseat in this one. The focus will be in looking after the majority of the kiters here in WA, all prizes etc will be awarded in non-competitive categories.
This won't mean that it is not a high end comp and that pro's are not welcome. It will be that too, but that will not be the focus.

Keep an eye on your calendar and keep March open. Possibly the longweekend...or the weekend before or possibly the weekend after. I will be meeting with the Pt Gregory Community interest group soon to see what suits them best. Looking for a forecast of 15-20knots rather than 25-30, hence the late season decision.

All prospective sponsors can contact the events sub committee via the WAKSA website at this stage of planning.

If anyone has specific questions, please hold them until we have confirmation from AKSA and then questions can be directed to the WAKSA website.
