Mate, boardshort harness and sliding spreader bar. Comfy and freedom to move. Great setup

Depends on what you do. I have both. Shorts are great for riding my TT at my local just cruising in and out and upwind slightly. But have a quality waist harness for downwinders or directional riding. Personally I would recommend only using shorts or a seat if you ride comfortably In both directions on a board. Try to avoid twisting the spine if u can as this cost me 6 weeks off work to figure out.

We sell the Dakine Nitrous Harness shorts.
Almost every pair sold has been to someone buying their 2nd one or someone buying on their mates advice.
I have never tried them myself but thats a pretty solid recommendation.

That's why you add the sliding spreader bar - no spine twisting on directional

what, if any ,are the repercussions of jumping with them on .
1. high pitched voice .
2. standing on beach ,bottom half naked and kite tangled in power lines
with shorts hanging from bar .

Yes this is my preferred option too, if you're not doing unhooked stuff the sliding bar is the go

I switched to board harness shorts after busting a rib back in Cape Town about a year ago. Enabled me to get back on the water sooner.

ION B2's are what you want to look at if you're considering shorts. Every person I know who's had the Dakine's have had to bin them after one season due to them falling apart. Maybe they've improved the build quality now, but the ION's are awesome. Never tried the Dynabar but I hear only good things about them.

What are the downsides to the sliding bar if you were unhooking?

i found them to be only average in the surf as long as you don't ride toeside ...sliding spreader will rectify that to a certain extent but i prefer my waist harness to slide around ...occasionally it left bruises on my inner thighs and you can't slide the hook around 180 if you crash and want to paddle in on your board in the surf..lower attachment point is good if you are/have short (arms) ..they look pretty good on though and increase your prowess with the opposite sex (or the same if that's your game ).. probably the only justification for wearing boardshorts over a wetsuit ...
i prefer a nice waist harness for the surf on a surfboard.

Yes but you can unclip the spreader bar, move it to the side, the boardshorts stay on and you paddle in - simple.

The hook springs up when unhooked making it quite difficult to hook back in

Does anyone know if you can attach a sliding bar to those ION b2 shorts? I'm very seriously considering ordering a pair.

I've got a sliding spreader on my Nitrous shorts if that helps. Big thumbs up from me for comfort and performance.

If you are tight with cash, and don't mind a little fiddling, check out my photos re. sliding spreader. I've been using it for about 5 years.

Thumbs up for the Nitrous with sliding spreader for the waves, very comfy. Can and have spent hours out with no discomfort or rubbing (I always wear a wetsuit or wetsuit shorts under them).
Don't like the sliding spreader for jumping or unhooked stuff, I have a second pair with a fixed hook for this.

whatever flips your burger...

Anything that will make you progress better is a good choice. It won't be a fashion statement though that's for sure. Hence the 'are you trolling' reply.

I prefer a correctly fitted waist harness. If it is right for you it won't ride up. If it does you have chosen wrong or been bum steered by the shop you got it from.

I wear ION apex. Never had a drama and doesn't ride up at all. Each to their own.

A good start would be a flying objects flight control with a dynabar if you were serious and were good to fork out 350$

Nappy harnesses are....an individual choice.

If you have a ****ed rib cartilage and cant use a waist harness they are the go... they feel better than a seat harness to use
