Planning a trip upto hawks nest, just north or port stephens in Jan.
Can anyone tell me if there are spots suitable fot kiting up there? which beaches?

Jimmys beach faces the south, horse shoe shaped
for NE use the surf beach

Depends what level you are at
Jimmys can be kited in a NE, it is dead flat, offshore and only shallow for 30m from shore, so not good for beginners in that direction, but is fantastic for learning in a SE.
The main ocean beach is good in a NE if you can handle the waves. We have kited in a Westerly there at Windawoppa (sp), basically the westerly end of Hawksnest.
I'm there for Xmas so will put more info on www.nswkba.com.au after I've had a chance to kite around the area some more.
