Come on,ism't it obvious they have a deal with the helmet manufacturer ?
Everyone has to wear the helmets they supply.

For you guys that believe that kitesurfing isnt dangerous enough to wear a helmet... get out of the sport, you have demonstrated that you cannot judge risks rationally and thus are a danger to yourself and others around you.

quote:
Helmet doesn't stop concussion
hahahahaha idiot.

As much as I have a great appreciation for darwin's theories, I also think the survival of kitesurfing is more important than my own humour. The less injuries we have in our sport the less likely insurance will become compulsory (and expensive) or that kitesurfing will be banded/strictly regulated (which I believe will eventually happen.

Apart from the obvious risk of injury to your brain consider also what happens to your ear drum when your head hits the water sideways so that the air in your ear canal compresses hard against your tympanic membrane. I've seen guys knocked out, faces severely smashed, teeth broken... Personally the only hard hits to my head were once immediately after I bought my gath my board hit me hard enough in the back of the head so that I saw stars and later on in the season I was hit in my face by the board while my visor was down... money well spent.

Of all people professional kitesurfers should always wear helmets because they are protecting their career and income!!! If you are butt ugly, mentally retarded and have no prospects in life then you might want to consider not investing in a helmet.

A helmet and an impact vest will turn a potentially season ruining crash into harmless stack.

Flying White Boy I don't know how to put this lightly, to hit your self in the front of your face with your board, I'm sorry to tell you this, your a kook.

I've smashed my head into the water so hard all I could see was white, I opened my eyes and water poored out of y eyelids and had an instant headache. We all have. Most competent kiters, for example people entering national copetition should be proficient enough to protect themselves enough unless slider or kicker or really dodgy location.

How many kiters have been killed or injured due to not wearing a helmet? Bugger all. Its all about assesing the risk involved, and I dont think it warrants the use of helmets. You have far more chance of injury driving cars but do we wear helmets? - NO - the imposition outweights the risk factor.

But you should wear the setabelt, you have the car around you, airbags and other safety.
What do you have when you kite? Hair, skin and bones
It is your choice how do you protect yourself when you kite by yourself.
If you are in a competition, you should play by the rules. Here there is no choice.
