I don't know much about kites other than the ones I have which are old Cabrinha crossbow 12mtr and 14mtr Contra2 .. I just want to cruise back and forth with upwind speed and a a little bit of jump here and there..a friend is selling an Airush Lithium 2010 10mtr. and Best Taboo 12mtr. 2011 .. winds in my area are between 8-18kts flat to swelly chop..I just want a fast kite, good build quality and upwind ability with a good pull ..which one do you think fits?.. thanks
Stay with cab go the switch blade 2011 not the 2012 had a ****ty bar set up iam 60kgs get going on 11m 10-18kn great apparent wind maker flys foward of the window so good for upwind . my 2 dollars worth .
Hey mate. the Cab Crossbow is a great light wind / up wind kite and should fit the bill, but the contra might be easier to learn with.
I would just fly both of them and see how you go, but both good light wind kites.
Good rule of thumb is a 12 metre kite will have the same pull a around a 6 metre sail.
Best Taboo 12 is also proberaly a better kite to start with, but I would give the cabs a run to learn on.
Warning "cruising forward and back with a little bit of jump"...novelty will wear off pretty quick and become fanging flat out and busting the biggest airs you've ever done. yeah baby.
With those kinds of wind speeds I think you're gonna hav to stay with the bigger kites A 10 is not going to give you much fun less than 15 knots Research your light wind specific kites , spend the dollars. It'll be worth it!! Buy new, look after it, use it for cruising and you'll hopefully get 4-5 seasons out of it A 2nd hand cheapy in the wrong size is not a good buy
currently both kites that I have have replaced bladders and have served me well thru this yrs. the reason they have remained good is the roll-up when done..however the fabric is about to give.. the used kites available are not shop kites or for schooling but used personally and with a fair bit of care..Cabs are really good maybe because they're the only ones I have ever tried but I could feel the upwind speed..who knows what the Best Taboo and the Airush Lithium can offer it might be a whole new experience and now's my chance to grab it at super low prices..I currently am the only one kiting in my part of the world Bacolod City..how I wish just for one day a group of pro riders from both companies just dotted this area and gave me a ride and their opinions and I wouldn't have to do research..not much is learned from reviews only from first hand opinion and yours.. Contra pulls like an ox in lightwind the crossbow flies gracefully with upwind pull in flukey winds and can boost if you do it right...talking about jumping if I kite for a straight one hour it's more on 30% speeding on the flatter surfaces , 50% cruising across the entire lagoon and the rest is jumping when the opportunity is there ..Cheers
BTW am 60kilos as well YouTube trained and I would consider myself lucky to be intermediate plus and have had my fair share of scratches, wounds and hospital visits learning these awesome sports

Sorry to troll, but I had to with that last hospital comment. If you had proper lessons, I bet you would have avoided that type of accident.

not a problem at all it was one of those things that I didn't have an instructor nearby or even had the chance to book.. my mistake and learnt from it..
