Whooaaa! Gruzie.... Nice one mate! Send some my way... Brissy winds couldn't be more dead this week...

Note:- Dont you just love how the BOM predict 10-15, and we get a beautiful 15-20 knots SE, and I'm painting the bathoom unbeknowns to the 'actual' winds!

At the start of this week i looked at the 7 day forecast and all i saw was yellow and red. 3 days in a row of 18-23 seabreezes and today will be the same. Laurie wat the hell is going on, even BOM is getting it right... Moral of the story, never trust forecasts.

it is a pity that they can tell the max temp within 1 or 2 degrees but predicting the seabreeze is next to impossible for them

WA predictions have been spot on. Predicting the thermals must be easier than the fronts.

People here must be kited out, saw no-one riding the Easterlies this am...........yea, on way to work Swearingbear.

Haha! The forecasts are right, it's the weather that changes!

Also depends what you mean by "right". Regards WA, if you were on Rotto, then the forecast was 100% accurate. If you were standing on the beach in Swanbourne, it would have been wrong.

The forecasts are updated every 6 hours, and if the Easterly comes on a little stronger in that time and keeps the seabreeze out, then that's weather .. it is allowed to change.

Predicting the weather relies on readings from many heights in the atmosphere, and from offshore (100's of Km's) conditions - i.e. it depends on ships and weather buoys floating in the area reporting the conditions (and that's only on the surface, not 500m up in the sky)... then these values are interpolated to create surface charts, and the forecasts are drawn up.

I urge everybody to learn more about weather, there's a primer at www.seabreeze.com.au/info/wind.asp .. that way you can apply your own personal bias on whether to cancel that wedding engagement...

Have a great day .. Laurie

p.s. Did you know that if you click on the 7 Day Forecast image, it takes you to the synoptic charts?

Yeah i knew that, i wish this high pressure would stay forever but i think it is leaving today, dammit. I love you subtropical high pressure belt. Laurie i was refering to the adelaide forecasts they have been way out of the ball park. Take today for instance, it is going to be all time but seabreeze forecast says its gonna be crap.

BOM however

ADELAIDE METROPOLITAN WATERS
Tuesday : Wind: S/SE 13/18 knots, reaching 18/23 knots south of Brighton
during the evening. Afternoon sea breezes 15/20 knots north of Brighton. Sea:
0.5 to 1 m, rising 1 to 1.5 m with the sea breeze.

And i believe the forecast with the most wind hmmm wednesday looks alltime aswell HOORAY FOR SA!!
