I really want to meet a few people with like interests, but there is no kiting club around here. How do i go about starting one?
Are there things that qualify a club as official? (therefore is it worth it.)
Or should it just start as something casual and develop at it's own pace?

Am i just writing this because it's friday and i'm bored?

Email to info(at)aksa and/or to NSWKBA will get the ball rolling.

His profile says he's in Vic, so maybe KBV would be a better idea.
If your interested in joining a group then have a look at MAKO. I don't seem to be getting many emails lately so they might not be very active at the moment... otherwise, organise an event or a roadtrip or something and meet local kiters that way.

Why the hell would you want to ?????

I don't get why people want a club, what is wrong with just going kiting with your mates or maybe you area masochist and like doing a **** load of work for no real benefit.

When you set up a club you need to do so much admin crap that it is almost like a full time job. Plus you got to have meetings and then at those meetings everyone will have different opinions and argue, splinter groups will occur and then half of the club will hate the others.

So what you have done in creating a club is basically turn a friendly group of kiters into a bitching moaning turmoil.

Probably easier and more fun just to go kiting with the people you like!!!!!

From what I saw at the Goldie last weekend with all the gumbies going through the flags on their downwinders, I think the password could be d1ckhead!!

That's the word the lifeguard used!

I bet he was holding back to, Narrow Neck is more for the lazy kiter, can't be ****ed to walk to far from the car or can't be ****ed to drive somewhere better. Its really a very average place to kite.

He was not very complimentary of local kiters in the flags. In fact he had nothing positive to say at all.

He was also on duty during the PKRA.

it's easy just make it a group...

facebook is how we organise west aust chick kiters(WACK)

we do once a month gatherings and i post it as an event in our facebook group and on seabreeze.

A guy jsut recently made a santa suit downwinder and now it's got 39 people coming.....but maybe no wind

i once got a list of people going for downwinders and road trips, jsut ask them to pm you their contacts

our WACK group was going under cos the chicks running it were snowed under and making a lot of effort for each event......now days we jsut rock up and have a yarn...everything else is self supplied.

forget all of the critics and make it happen, it's not really that hard

go for it but try and keep it as simple as possible.
It's a great way to keep your beach open and makes it easier for chicks to get into kiting in a club atmosphere.

We have a fb group in Caloundra. 80 members.

But now is the time to go official so we are incorporating a club. It's a lot of work but worth every minute.

We will be officially acknowledged by authorities, receive funding and get to hold comps and events.

Clubs can be fun when it's all about the sport.
