I must start by saying I am just a beginner but I still think my comments are carry some validity.

I started kiting earlier a few weeks ago and have only had about 6 sessions. I was limited by the 50 minute drive to where I did my lessons (Safety Bay) and wanted to try a place closer. I jumped on the WAKSA website and read the summary and local rules of each spot and thought melville would be a great spot. It's only 5 minutes from home and seems learner friendly.

I have now been there 3 times and each time I have seen an act that if I were a resident I would complain to the council about. I have seen multiple kites flown into trees. I have seen several people self land by ditching and using the safety on the shore near the road (despite there being numerous people to help do an assisted land within 50m). I have seen runaway kites tumble down the beach and onto the pedestrain path with nobody trying to stop them. I watched some euro guys riding strapless on surfboards coming right up to shore and doing big carve turns spraying obvious noobs who have just launched their kite (and looking nervous doing so!).

However, the clincher was this evening. A guy on a 2010 north rebel came flying into shore and tryed to throw a trick while his kite was flying over the road. He stuffed it and launched himself onto the beach still attached to his kite. His kite however dropped onto the road and onto a car. Luckily the car stopped immediately otherwise it would have dragged him along. This was about 30m from were a young family with 4 small children were playing on the beach.

I wonder why kiting hasn't been banned here already! I think I might just start heading down to safety bay again to avoid all this.

Picture or movies or it didn't happen,

we all agree but I am also sick of the constant winging by girlie man (I will be back)who can't just walk up to someone and just say what they think.

It is much easier to make a post on seabreeze where anyone wishing to get ammunition for an outright ban can freely find it.

Most people and especialy kiters are very friendly and if approached in a correct manner are very open and will listen to the local advice.

If for every post on seebreeze about some showponny doing the wrong thing there was one person getting off his arse and actually talking to the culprit, all the spots would probably be sorted.

Sebol.........you are out of line.

I have spoken to all the relevant parties except the heros and told them what I thought before posting. I also have the evidence pal.

Hi Sebol.
I didn't look in the WA section prior to posting, where there is a similar thread so I apologise. If you want to merge it somehow or delete it that'd be fine. I just wanted to add my 2c

I have said something to two people about coming in close but was met with "get ****ed" last time. I was walking my kite back up (on one of my many walks of shame) and couldn't run onto the road today. Somebody else ran up to him to give him a hand and I assume to ask him what he was doing with his kite over the road.

It is much harder as an absolute noob to go up to quite experienced kiters and tell them what to do. I feel foolish doing so and thats why I finished my original post by saying I might just steer clear now I've been told to get ****ed. I apologise for adding to the volume of "girlie man" posts but youre right in that I just wanted to vent a little!

I have to also add I have no interest in cybernetics and I know when I'm 100% at fault so I don't think I'm similar to RSC...

Green Rebel? I saw this clown today. I went down hoping for some wind but it was a bit light as I got there late. I sat and watched for a while and saw like 5 seperate kiters not just riding inside the buoys but right up to sthe shore. This knob totally took the cake though. I stood there wating for him to come into shore so i could give him a blast of ****. Guess I should have stayed a bit longer. Somone should have slashed his kite to bits after that stunt.

We're all screwed if this kind of crap keeps up.

Fair point mate and I fully agree with you, just don't like giving the opposite team some amunition.

I think they were going to print some flyers so no one has an escuse for pretending to not know the rules in place.

If someone tells you to get $%^&, Karma will get them, or being told on many occasions by the local might eventualy get to them.

In my experience, they might tell to get stuffed because the ego is bruised but they will still take on board the message even more so if it comes on seperate occasions by seperate individuals.

Keep kiting the spot, it is by having more people with the right attitude that you will make a difference.

I think you are mis informed. I don't think they appreciate newbies down there. The pond is for experienced freestylers only. With all the windsurfers thrown in the mix and on shore winds I would think it is not an ideal beginner setup.

I don't venture into the pond. I stay the other side of the big sand spit.
I thought this was where all the noobs should go?

Yup, that is correct. Outside of the spit is a great place to learn. Most of the time the wind is pretty onshore but you can walk out a long way on the sandbar and get a nice long downwind ride if you aren't able to stay upwind. The chop isn't too huge and most people out there are super cool. Just don't be lazy and walk out the sandy spit rather than trying to leave from the beach and just end up getting smashed on the sand.

Oh, and give the instructors and their pupils lots of room, like 50m or so downwind. I'm down there a lot. I just head upwind of the real noobs and there is plenty of room.

I must say learning at Safety Bay is pretty good. If you walk out on the sandbar you have plenty of downwind room to the beach and all the guys that know what's what seem to give the noobs a wide berth or wait when needed for them to pass.
