i believe i am the first person to kiteboard the hume weir.
Conditions werent fantastic but what can u expect from an inland sou wester far from any seabreeze. Any one from newcastle?if so its similar to a westerly at squids ink.
the kite fell from the sky a few times but apart from that the old 6 ft surfboard powered me along when it got to light for the 130 on a 10m slingy. far out kiting is good when you've been hanging round bogans and there effin cars and dirtbikes. i am a very happy man now knowing that rural australia now has a kiting scene.

i miss the Nor Easters. cant wait to see the crew at squids ink in the holidays.

Hey Dude, you can't claim. Met a guy in Johny Geyers shop over here in Perth about 3 years ago, who was an Albury guy and stated his fav spot was just upwind of Bethenga Bridge. I don't recall the wind direction but it seemed prevelant as he was able to use this spot often (maybe northerly).
He claimed it worked well there because the valley narrowed and the hills on either side created a funnel effect.
And by the way, if your stuck in Albury/Wodonga for any length of time, I feel for you as my family had me stuck there for too many years before I was old enough to escape

Other un-tamed waters that might be up for bagging:

Lake Albert - Wagga Wagga
Lake George - if there's ever any water
Lake Ginninderra - this one may still be virgin.

I know a mate of mine kited Lake Burley-Griffin back in 2002 but I don't think he was the first. His kite ended up in a tree after the wind swung 180 on him. The joys on inland kiting!! At least the water would be flat eh?

How's this for an untamed lake? It's at 5000 mts in Nepal, wonder if the wind was blowin right if you could boost off the edge and float down the valley?
