Saw this and thought it was pretty cool technology available for iPhone users. You can use it to take a photo of a mole and the software will analyse whether you need to get it investigated further by a skin specialist. Obviously not a replacement for a doctor but may be good technology to use once in a while to see whether its worth chatting to a doctor because its difficult justifying doing random checkups with the doctor every 3 months.

The app was created by CEO Victor Anastasiu and his team of 12 which includes two dermatologists and two mathematicians.

Oh really?

If you're high risk, sure, but in my case, the skin specialist just told me I'm low risk so I don't need to schedule another checkup for a year or two. This way I can keep an eye out in the interim. Its a bit like women feeling their boobs for lumps. Sure you need the regular checkups but docs also recommend doing self checkups.
