Yeh we walked past the poor fella in the paramedics hands sucking big on some drugs he needed. Was in a bad way, so much so they had to call in the chopper. We were out when they chopper came in, had to keep a wide berth! Tide very low and very dangerous when it is like that. Especially when your legs go in different directions powered up as with this poor guy. Ouch!

Wish him the best.

One foot slipped out of his pad, it got stuck in the mud, the kite gave power and he did the splits. Apparently he had never done the splits before.
I got an update last night to say that he has broken his femur and is having surgery, will prob have some bits of metal put in.
Looks like he will miss out on the ski trip he has booked for japan and the rest of the season. I feel for ya, really sucks.

... oh man , I sorta know his pain, did something very similar couple of years ago, almost exactly the same in fact, only I tore my ham string,,, f'ing painful indeed. Haven't been able to boost properly ever since, constantly get cramps in it, luckily I didn't cop it like this poor bastard!!!

more pain and no gain. Loads of reported injuries already this year. The old "foot stuck in the binding" trick strikes again. I tore my medial ligament nearly two years ago having one in and one out and getting launched. Heard two loud pops....put the damper on the season.
Hope the recovery is quick, can't imagine how much that would have hurt.

Me too. Only what I thought was a hamstring tear was a hamstring avulsion (sp?) - detachment from the bone. I didn't find out until about 2 years later when I developed debilitating sciatica (lower back pain), turns out where the hamstring attaches to the top of the leg is where the sciatic nerve comes out and travels down the leg. I'd developed scar tissue from the hamstring detachment, and it had caught around the sciatic nerve and was giving me heaps. Took me about 6 months of pain and god knows how many xrays, scans, visits to specialists etc to finally figure out what it was. I had an operation to reattach the hammie and clean up the nerve from scar tissue and all good now.

So Puetz, if you start getting severe lower back pain go and find someone who'll do an MRI on your hammie and see if this has happened to you too. The bloke that did mine reckons heaps of avulsions get mis-diagnosed as tears (and apparently they're very different beasts).
