Here is a fascinating story from Australia from almost a year ago. Apologies for the slow surfacing but it should be worth the wait. Some acts and stories are timeless, I believe this one falls in with that lot.

Some tow-in surfers are about to be busted up against rocks in driving 25 to 30 kt. winds and 4 to 13 m (13 to 40 ft.) waves and it is almost dark. The nearest rescue folks aren't anxious to take on these horrific conditions in available craft. There is a kiteboarder and solid waterman rigged with a 14 m kite who thinks he can help.

His story and lots of photos follow:

The amount of work & detail this guy puts into these stories is unbeleivable.

I work in the 4wd industry and was amazed to find a pic of a 4wd with a snorkle fitted which was a usfull accessory for some driver who found himself bobing around the boat ram after things went wrong.

Glad you liked it. There are some nice riding conditions down there. Australians are leading in the number of accounts in the "Way To Go" series. Have you heard of other actions along these lines?

Ric I had never heard of the Safari Snorkel before this rescue. I am surprised that the cars tolerate frequent immersion like that without some fairly substantial additional maintenance. That's in freshwater, in salt I would think things would go south a lot faster.
