I was there for the first time over the Easter break; Thurs - Monday.
It worked so well on the S/SEly we had; Ely it tends to be a little more difficult to kite, but an awesome spot nonetheless.
Kiting on the runout tide adds a decent 3-5 knots, but its kiteable on an incoming tide.
Low tide doesn't leave that much room once you get windsurfers, kiters and SUPs in the one area, plus people fishing and kids swimming.
Mid tide, if you're a shallow and flat water lover, if you kite towards Woodgate and over the sandbar at Elliot, its just stunning; outdoing tide adds a decent 5 knots there =]
High tide just becomes choppy, but you still have room to set up along the sand bar.
A group of us camped at the local camping grounds; was excellent and so close.
