I just seen some poor bugger in another section report a heap of stolen gear.
MAkes you realise if its all taken at once it will cost a bit to replace.

Who has their gear covered by insurance:

For use around your own backyard?

And when you travel is it still covered O/S?

Whos the policy with
Part of house contents insurance
Seperate cover
Pros and cons of it all
Etc Etc

My kite gear is insured as part of home contents (no need to specify, so long as under $2000 per item), in car, home, on beach etc, with CGU. Not the cheapest policy but very comprehensive on paper and good phone information. No claim made as yet so cant say on that side.

got mine through suncorp. It was an add on with the contents insurance, anywhere in Australia.

I have home and contents through Suncorp. I rang them to add on insurance for three kites and boards, I was told no problem and it would cost from memory about $9.50 a month. After losing a set of bar and lines rang them to ask if it may be insured and what the excess was and before I even got right into it was advised that kitesurfing equipment would definitely not be covered and they cancelled the add on and refunded me the money I had paid.

Be careful, if it isn't clearly in writing then don't be too confident about the goods being covered.

I asked the relevent questions about 10 different ways, and they did not say there was a total claim limit, just a per unspecified item limit of $2000, and I specifically asked if kite gear is covered, answer was yes.
Will look at getting written confirmation rather than verbal of kite gear cover when I get around to it.
