Is it just me or has this been the freakin best winter !!! In Coastal metro Perth that is .....
Kited my local today 3hours.... I still have a horn...
I would say so far there has been more good kiting days this winter, than all of last summer.......
Can some one tell me why we are having so many NW's days !! I dont ever recall geting so many NW days in previous years of pole dancing and kiteing,
Cheers

The strongest La Nina in 20+ years has changed the wind and ocean currents over WA would be my guess. I have kited 1 souwester in about 6 months and 30 -40 norwesters/westerlies.What will the summer sea breezes be like if any with all of the desert and inland SW being greened up . Will the normal interaction of land and sea thermal flows work this summer? Is it the end of the fremantle doctor? Do I need a 14m when my bigest kite has been a 10m and I weigh in at 95kg? Things ticking over in my head after 3 hours of onshore power yesterday.

this winter has been the worst for a few years over here in nsw. We have had a few good days this last week, but before that my kites were collecting dust. I usually get out about once a week over winter.

i am with you bennie, worst winter ever on the east coast for kiting, pretty reasonable for surfing though!

Yeh some say over here in WA hasn't been that good, reason - had a lot of big fronts without the prior and post wind before it hits.

I personally think it has been fantastic, a fair few big swell, 20-25 knots days. Yesterday was great, although last sunday was the best winter kite I've ever had. Swell was huge, wind consistent and even sunshine!

Yeh been good, but although kited for 12 years, haven't hit winter before like this year, had a real bad kitemare on a non depowerable foil kite 11 years ago, put me off - but the technology is sooooo good now.

Winter has changed.
In years past i remember a couple of days of NW before the front hits then a day or two of west and rain then SW for a day after the front had gone through.
I've kited more NW'est this winter than i have in probably 5 years?

Yeah Sydney used to be southerlies @ 25 knots every other weekend, or at least that's how I remember it... No we are lucky to get 3/4 decent southerlies in the whole winter

Maybe it's time to move to WA...

Had a great session at Woodies yesterday. It's a bit weird having it be offshore and butter flat at beach 2!
