Does anyone know if Wollumboula Lake is kiteable again? Its the lake next to Warrain Beach. Had some of the best kites of my life there. It got drained a few months back and l dont want to make the drive from Sydney to find its a swamp. Also, is Callala Bay kiteable or is it to gusty? Remember from a holiday years ago that it had butter smooth flat water

not sure about the lake buti kited Callala Bay (I think that was the spot) in a S/SW last year and it was fine. if you go to far north its very onshore.

didnt know the lake was empty. i had a look there last winter and looked like a good spot for winter SW winds

Rob if you want kite JB in a westerly wind or sw go to Long Beach.
The wind travels about 9km over sea so its one of the cleanest sw winds you will ever kite.

Long beach is entered through the National Park on the way to Currarong go to the southern end.

Flat water crystal clear water and no crowds, I kited it one afternoon with some mates and we all agreed it was one of the best kites we have ever had in westerly, we kited it till it was dark.

Am planning a trip shortly with the Boys once the wind looks good on a weekend ,cant wait.

Big Al I have already told Kevin ,so when we go I will let you know, accomodation is on me , just bring your kites we can kite any wind direction with in a 5 minute drive.

Hopefully we might get a NW, we can then hit the surf at Currarong and sneak a downwinder in, are you getting those browny points up for WA looks like I have the all clear , the only hurdle is work.

Dan, sounds bloody marvelous.
Kev told me I have 8 months to work on the WA trip. I'm not sure if that's long enough! Looking for some leverage and plain old fashioned begging. I wish I had your sweet talking charm Dan.

Sorry to get off topic Robwebb.
The only place I've looked at down there kiteable in a W/SW/S wind is the lake at Culburra but never acually got on the water. Where is Wollumboula Lake BTW?
