Hey guy's,

Wind looks promising for the next three days at HawksNest, so i am taking off work Fri- Monday to try to get as much time out there as I can. I know everyone says you need to have a rescue boat due to the off shore conditions on the bay side during NE, but how many of you kite there on the bay side without a rescue boat. I mean not many of us have the luxury of having a dingy. How many of you have had to get rescued in the bay, what would the danger be to be out there by yourself, i see heaps of boats around, wouldn't it be easy enough to get picked up?

Just trying to weigh up the options.

Regards
Jimmy

Hey Senergy,

I am staying at the tea Garden hotel. Its got a good pub right there with great food an heaps of beer. You'll see me there by 10:00am. I'll be the older one with the SS's. Thanks for the msg. I'll be the one that hasn't quite got big air yet. Just haven't figured out how to keep my board on my feet when landing on my arse, or head or other extremidies.
Got a reel leash, think I'll give it a go. I'll have more confidence of not loosing the board.

See ya out there

Jimmy

Been on that side 5 or more times. Never needed a rescue boat.
Wtih NE in far east corner of Jimmies the depth is shallow for 150m easy. Go at low tide and it is very easy to see the color change between the shallow and the deep where you can no longer touch.
Just go back and forth till you get close to color change and if you can't kite upwind then that is time to get off board and walk back in to shallow.
Note if you really are new and can't stay upwind or even close to upwind then best have a rescue boat or 5 dollars for ferry to get back.
For New years we had one member of crew who got caught in gusty winds and had to take the ferry back to Jimmies side.
Good laugh for rest of us but at least he got a long downwinder.

looking at the map i see where you'll be staying. im staying right on jimmys beach.. nothing todo but wake up and step onto the beach.

depending on the winds i'll be on a green north rhino or a green airush.

cant wait for this weekend. last time i went up i only had a 16m rhino and the wind was way too strong, but i went out anyway.. didnt hurt myself but didnt have fun. this time im taking a 12m as well..

see ya on the water jimmy.

If you do end up going down wind don't try to come in near the caravan park as the wind is very gusty in the middle of the bay in a NE
You would be best to aim for winda woppa and land there then walk back up the bay.
