Im not sure what you mean by poor ole Riptorn? The population of the City of Joondalup is 160,000 and your so called association has only contacted 7,000? If we take a measure of success as 30% responding to the survey (either way) then that is 48,000 ratepayers and dog owners v 2,100 suppossibly sympathetic kite voters?

It's one thing when you pass around jokes on an internet forum, but when you're outright pushing for a ban on a sport, whatever sport, is a total dick move. Are you just too bigoted to understand and allow change? Things can't always been as they were 20 years ago. Kiters have just as much rights to use the beach as a person walking a dog or having a surf. The problem isn't the kiters, it's awareness.

The solution is not to ban kiters, but raise awareness amongst them, so why don't you push for that? If you were really after a more pleasant time at the beach, and not just a bloke with a personal resentment towards kiters, you would be doing this already.

So why do you hate kiters so much? You do realise the implications of this ban can affect us nation wide?

Mate, I very seldom kite at Mullas or Pinnas these days, so I dont have a lot to lose by your bleatings or any decision made by Joondalup Council, but I get pissed off when a small minority of Joondalup coastal residents consider these beaches as their own private property and organise petitions/campaigns against others that have the cheek to use their beach. This is Australia. The beaches belong to everyone.

Anyway, you might get your way and then you can happily carry on lawnmowing pinnaroo(up and down, up and down) on your windsurfer by yourself , content in the knowledge that you have F....d up the beach for a lot of other users.

BTW, like a lot of kiters, I am an ex windsurfer myself(18 yrs) and still have great respect for fellow windsurfers, but I think that you and some of your mates are changing that for many kiters. Im not convinced the majority of windsurfers are supportive of you, and I am still not convinced that you are what you say you are!

Your statistics are a woeful as your logic and IQ.
7000 households X 3.67 ppl per house = 25690 people contacted
If as you suggest we get 30% = 7707
Thats more than one vote per flier - game over - kiters win.

But we had one respondent claiming a support rate of 7 households.
Lets use that proven sample instead of your guesswork. Sounds fair.
Thats 7 x 3.67 = 25 votes per flier WOW 7000 x 25 = 175000 votes for kiting

Awesome result for our 'so called' ??? association.

However we will never really know how big the dog owners and ratepayers action and response was for kitie bans other than it must be significant enough to cause Shire action. Thats what you should be worried about. Kities must undertand that it is sheer arrogance to believe that they can do whatever, whenever they want and disregard other who love to walk along the beach and enjoy the peace and views. Not to look out and see 100 kites, you just don't get it do you?

Quite simply I believe a fair result from the shire is to place kities further south away from Pinnaroo towards the horse beach to help reduce the burden on the beach and carpark.
