Choice Kite Surfing has been suspended from the IKO but continues to use the IKO logo prominently of their web page and brochure. I would think that being out of the IKO must have some serious of implications regarding insurance for their customers and anyone working as an instructor??? Just a thought.

With regards to insurance, IKO now has a comprehensive rider insurance policy covering accident and public libility when engaged in snowkiting or kiteboarding, available to all kiters which covers them for the whole world so you can breath a bit easier when going overseas and at your local patch.

Accident insurance for accident, death, and salvage costs covering you from the moment you get your gear out of the car till you put it back in the boot at the sessions end.

Public Liability lump sum payment to $1,000,000 Euros.

What does this mean? Who does it apply to? All kitesurfers? Surely not? All IKO instructors? (more feasible) A little clarification please!

Hi all , the suspended notice on the IKO site is simply a formality, as i no longer wish to be a IKO center, due to ongoing costs involved, and i no longer intend to employ instructors.
I am excited to conducting all lessons myself this season, this will assure me that all students receive consistant high quality instruction.

that IKO insurance looks great. how does it fit in with the public liability insurance offered by AKSA? does it mean you dont need AKSA's insurance?

I noticed that Choicey did not really address the question about if his students (or even others travelling on his bus) were covered. I know that getting insurance for a kite school is one of the main reasons schools sign up with an organization like IKO or the others.

Whats your problem here Canuk
FFS - Running a tour bus without insurance
This is probably a jailable offense. You think anyone running a business would risk the consequences
If your booking a seat (or a lesson) Im sure you would THEN be entitled to check these sorts of things - if youre really that anal
Implied accusations on the forum is a dirty ball game - IMO

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the post from Airborne (my bad )

With regards to insurance, IKO now has a comprehensive rider insurance policy covering accident and public libility when engaged in snowkiting or kiteboarding, available to all kiters which covers them for the whole world so you can breath a bit easier when going overseas and at your local patch.

Accident insurance for accident, death, and salvage costs covering you from the moment you get your gear out of the car till you put it back in the boot at the sessions end.

Public Liability lump sum payment to $1,000,000 Euros.

What does this mean?
This means you can be covered whilst kiting!

Who does it apply to? All kitesurfers? Yes as long as they are certified capable to level 3 J which is an independent safe rider. This can be certified by any IKO centre or school in a short time after you have proven your riding ability. Easy!
Surely not? All IKO instructors? (more feasible) A little clarification please!

Hope this answered your questions. You can check out the website for more details http://www.ikorg.com/latest_news_details.php?nid=54

You cannot flip off the AKSA insurance if you compete, as rules state that you must be a member of AKSA to participate in any Australian competition. If however, you travel o'seas and do not particpate in Oz comps you can take IKO only, or if you want the peace of mind to travel and compete then you need both as the AKSA policy to my knowledge only covers riders in Australian waters and only whilst riding or engaging in the sport of Kiting.

Hope this answerrs all your questions

"You cannot flip off the AKSA insurance if you compete, as rules state that you must be a member of AKSA to participate in any Australian competition."

Which rules are those? The consitution of Australia? You just mean an AKSA competition right?

If someone organizes a competititon, its got to be up to them to cover insurance issues, unless the AKSA got some legislation passed by the Commonwealth. Im only asking cause i reckon the best competitions are the informal ones.

Thanks kitehard....you did answer my question!

And I would go and convince IKO I am a competent rider but I am certain they would disagree! AKSA will have to do for me.

cheers

Make sure you read all the fine-print in the policy.

Look out for all the loop-holes.

Beware of any clauses written in secret biege.

It gives me a nice warm, fuzzy feeling to see that a dudes mates rally around him when a hard question gets asked. BUT we still have not heard from Choicey on this matter.

I deleted my post cause I'm not an angry man, was just annoyed by your post. And I'm not a mate of Choicey's, I've never met him. I just don't like people "dobbing".

Hey Jeff2231,
Stand by your convictions man.
Having an opinion doesn't necessarily make you an angry person.
It means that you are expressing yourself and venting.

Don't censor yourself, that's the job of the forum moderator.

Canukguy sounds like you have a grievence with choicey, I know atleast 2 other schools that haven't had IKO cover but adevertise it anyway, But i don't dob because thats not the Australian way. Just because a person has IKO doesn't mean their a good intsructer, some of the most stupid things i've seen have been from IKO instructor's.

P.S. Canukguy what country are you from, probably a winging p##

Hehe, truth of the matter was that I had a **** customer just before I came on and read the post, then just thought "**** you man, who the **** do you think you are???" then came back on later and figured I don't care as much as it sounded like I did As Sprouse said, its just not the Aussie way.
