Just getting back into it after a couple of seasons off so am looking for some help on some suggestions for 09 kites I can pick up secondhand. I weigh about 88kg and want to get away with 1 kite for 15 - 25 ish knots in the smallest size possible. About an early intermediate and mainly freeride.

Was after something that had the following:

- Good low end power
- 4 lines
- Push away flagging safety (used to fly Rebels and liked the safety release)
- One pump
- Good floaty jumps
- Easy relaunch (starting out again in the surf so need something thats going to come up quick if I drop it!)

Would be great to get any suggestions on what would be a good fit.

I bought a 2008 11M Ozone Instinct Edge 2 about 3mths ago . Im 85kgs , ride a 128 Cardboard twintip . Im amazed at how much range this kite has . Im very comfortable with it from 15 to 30 knts with very little bar pressure . Boosts well with floaty jumps and turns well. It does have a fifth line from the bridle on the kite down to a metre above the bar , which depowers the kite along with the front lines . Try to demo one if you can, Im sure you wont be disappointed . Not sure if the Ozone 2009 kites have the same characteristics but would recommend that you try one

Get one of these puppies The jumps are really floaty ,you'll need to get some of these to put on the help with relaunch .i'm not sure if you can get them in one pump but they do come with stickers that you can put on your kite or in your room.

Yeah, had a look at the wave kite topic. Will prob be in shore break most of the time but not really after a dedicated wave kite at the moment. Looking for something to ride with a twin tip and take to flat water spots as often as possible. I'm not that good a surfer unfortunately!

Those Eclipse prices are pretty bloody amazing though.

If you like yellow ones, the Core GT's do all that stuff.
If you don't like pulleys, the 09 Ozones are worth a look, but they don't have a push away release.

i've just picked up a cabrinah ids and found it is quick to relaunch and great for les experienced riders like me but still very capable for the more experienced. i had one test fly and went from crash landing all my jumps to being very smooth in half an hour on it. I bought one the next weekend. i got the 10m and am a similar weight to yourself. i've been out in 16knots up to just over 30 but am overpowered in the 30knots. With a bigger board you'd get out in less to i reckon
